Danny Collins

He’s a great story, and seems like a great guy.

But he’s got to go. This defense is underperforming except at corner, where they are just bad. They can’t tackle. They are fundamentally bad.

PJ had poor judgement on Collins. I know we have some injury's on defense and are struggling but this isn't just players. Concepts are not logical in design. The lack of adjustments is staggering. We do not have good secondary or linebacker coaching right now either. Poor decisions by PJ to go with first year coordinator, inexperienced linebackers coach, secondary coaching is not good. I don't know how you explain linebackers and cornerbacks being so dang out of position all game? It is tough when you lose confidence but that doesn't explain lack of effort at times. Honestly the melting down by the defenders getting out of position so often at cornerback when your already taking poor angles was hard to understand.
Complete breakdowns in gaps control or even understanding where to be. I do not like the linebacker or secondary coaching. It's not good enough to be effective in Big 10. Collins lacks the ability to make things better. Need to recruit better cornerbacks and defensive lineman. The timing of blitz calls is predictable and to easy to pick up.

PJ has to fire or demote Collins to save his own job
the good thing is PJ has made changes in the past when coordinators underperformed i.e. Robb Smith & Sanford. Although the scary thing is Sanford was probably performing as well or better than Harbaugh.

Sanford wasn't performing as well as Harbaugh

Harbaugh called a great game today and Lindsey played like he hasn't for weeks. Harbaugh exposed what was considered a good defense. Any time you score over 30 against a conference opponent, you get a kudos in my book.
Need to temper this just a bit as 14 of those points were off an excellent kick return and a fortuitous fumble recovery.

2020 Sanford All Conference COVID year 27.3 ppg
2021 Sanford got "fired" offense scored 25.5 ppg.
2022 Kirk Ciarrocca 28.2 ppg
2023 Harbaugh 20.9 ppg
2024 Harbaugh 26.2 ppg
2025 Harbaugh 23.8 ppg

Corner is our worst position! They couldn't cover a JV team..

They punched it into the end zone both times regardless. That's playcalling and execution.

Besides being gifted great field position twice, as noted above, the offense contributed to this mess by falling behind--yet again.

They've scored 25 points in 3 games this year, one of which was NW LA School of Cosmetology.

Harbaugh's offense has been subpar his entire time here

I sure appreciate the good defenses we’ve had the last several years watching this debauchery. I thought the defensive backfield would be a strength this year. It’s not getting fixed this year, I’ll watch the season through and not get emotionally invested

We're 11 games in. You're just now making this call?
Yah, I’m making the call now. I was hoping to go to Nashville not Detroit. Finish the year with the axe and sign the excellent recruiting class will be a win at this point

Harbaugh called a very good 2nd, 3rd and 4th Q. But as usual he had the team stuck in first gear throughout the 1st Q … while NW’s offense moved quickly into 4th gear. Slow, tedious, plodding, tentative offensive starts are just the Gopher way, I guess. Actions speak louder than words.

When you have a defense as porous and regressing as the Gophers’, the OC doesn’t have the luxury of such a pattern of wasted 1st quarters.
