crimson tide/fighting irish national championship game thread

Even though it was over after the first quarter, I wanted to keep watching just to see Alabama's Oline dominate and see how ND would try to move the ball against a superior defense. I actually was suprised that ND's QB was able to complete as many passes as he did although this probably wasn't Bama's best defense.

I really liked watching the big physical running back from Bama.

Would TE'O even start on Bama's defense?

Blowout. Sad in a game between Alabama and Notre Dame the biggest story was somebody from Alburn (AJ Mccarron's Girlfriend) I stole that from 1500 espn but still I thought that summed it up very well. Wonder how hardcore Alabama fan feel about thier QB swapping spit with an Alburn Tiger.

Notre Dame was completely outclassed from the start. Alabama did anything and everything it wanted on both sides of the ball virtually all night long. Haven't seen a team get thoroughly manhandled like that in a championship game in a long time. It was bad enough that you have to wonder if Notre Dame should have even been in this game.

Yeah, like 365 days ago. Maybe not quite as bad on the scoreboard, but LSU didn't cross midfield until the fourth quarter last year. Bama has completely overpowered their opponent in the title game two years in a row. Very impressive.

You got to wonder what Saban does differently over the 40 or so day layoffs. They always seem to come out on fire while the opponent is always rusty from the long break.

Does anyone else find it hilarious how fans of SEC teams not only cheer for Alabama in the NC, but almost act like their team won it afterwards? It's one thing to root for the other conference members, it's another to act like your team just won it all. Do you think Michigan or Penn St. fans would be pounding their chest if Ohio St. wins a championship? How about USC and Stanford if Oregon wins it all? Truly bizarre if you ask me.

What I also think is funny is how all the SEC fans before the season were talking about how much Texas A&M are outcasts from the Big 12 and they wouldn't do much in the SEC. Now, all you hear from them is how good they are. They sure changed their mind and claimed them pretty fast.

Good points. Golic this morning (on MikeandMike) made similar comments about A&M and the SEC fans. He blew up a little bit haha. I tend to agree. It's amazing how winning can change people's minds.

This is another example as to why the BCS is flawed. Based on bowl performance it would have been nice to see Oregon playing for the NC.

Actually, I was thinking back to when USC thumped Oklahoma in whatever year that was. And that game last year was more competitive than this one by quite a bit imo. From the get go, I had the feeling Notre Dame had no chance. Didn't really feel that way with LSU until the second half. But your point is well taken.

Golic, while obviously upset about ND, was right, although nobody in their right mind would have been able to predict Manziel's performance this season. The kid is a freshman.
