Coyle does a great job balancing the budget, not overextending, etc
He is not going to be a visionary growth kind of guy and some of those completely blow up. The U likes him because heās safe, has kept the department net positive while not folding a ton of sports (I am aware there are some), and has not demanded excess dollars, etc from the BOR (his talks with them appear very ho-hum boring rather than trying to leverage on them).
my concerns are how much he outsources hiring (hockey) or cannot āconvinceā others of a way (or lacks the vision on what the way could be) that may be better and doesnāt seem to have the motivational speaking to convince the state to donate here in large numbers like more charismatic ADs, but he does overall the job they ask him to do which is to keep the department net positive as best as able.
