Cole Kramer

It has been said in these forums many times, that a very, very high percentage of those plays are designed RPOs, not a read option- where the quarterback is to decide hand off or run himself... Correct? Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me with the X's and O's can confirm.
RPO = Run or Pass Option. The QB decides to hand it off to the running back (run) or pull it back and pass it. Usually based on what he sees the linebackers and/or safeties doing.... Not to decide to hand it off or run it himself. That is a read option.

A Read Option is when the QB decides to either hand it off to the running back or keep it himself and run. A running play all along.

Why not stick with the wildcat for a bit after it's success. What we were doing wasn't working.
Can't teach stupid. Imho

Hope you’re not serious. Tomorrow is not promised for anyone.
5-of-13 for 49 yards and 2 interceptions. seems like he's going down hill the last two years. went from a long of 86 yards down to only 39 so far this year. went from a CMP% of 66 down to 52.8 so far. I don't know what your seeing but I see a decline and the stats agree. we got 5 other QB on the team who know if they can do better play them and we can find out.

Not really. Nelson was a capable runner. Other things going on there but we don't need to rehash all those things.
Nelson was a very capable runner, pretty hard to say Leidner was much better. Leidner may have been a stronger runner, but he was in no way a markedly better runner than Nelson. In all honesty, I thought Nelson was better than Leidner both passing and running, but for sure, no need to dig up this dead horse

The coaches seem to know. Morgan is fine when he has time. Annexstad throws INT's in spring games and is the same as Morgan. It's more about play calling and OL's inconsistant play. If you are playing 7 OL and don't have underneath routes, your options are limited. We don't have 2 NFL draft picks bailing us out anymore at WR.

All this and sacked 4 times, and yet I hear they should have passed the ball so much more last Saturday. Interesting, no doubt...
Yes, they should've passed more on early downs, some quicker tunnel screens, slants, etc. Get Tanner and the offense in rhythm, they didn't do that

I'm not saying 35 attempts, but they should've been 20-25 attempts

Ryan Burns, if you’re on here, ask PJ why the gophers are skewing so hard towards the run this year. Do they not trust Morgan and their receivers?
I could see pj playing the bowling green game script to stay healthy as the priority. It actually makes sense.

Except he played Autman-Bell and he got hurt. Kieft is now banged up, Wright seemed to leave the game etc. etc. Bounding the ball is not a way to stay healthy IMO. They should have spread things out and had a better passing game plan.

Watched Kramer play at EP. Different system; he has had to learn Gopher offense. I don't believe he ever lost as a starting HS QB, but I may be wrong. Has put on 20-25 pounds without losing speed. Can throw the ball 70 yards. When EP threw the ball it was off a naked bootleg or spread type formation and he made an accurate throw. If Morgan can't do it Kramer should be given a shot.

In the practices I was at, he had the least strong long throws. I also think he's #4 QB on the depth chart.

When Kramer was in high school at Eden Prairie, and was their starting QB, one of the two Grants, I forget if it was Bud or Mike, was quoted as saying Kramer was the most under-rated QB around, probably due to the offensive system run at EP, which was predominantly run oriented. All Kramer did was win ballgames for years. Now he has had two years to learn the RPO, but not under true game conditions. His wildcat exposure was a surprise, but the results weren't!

I know he lost at least once. He lost in the state finals.

I think Cole running for his life will look a lot like Tanner running for his life for all the same reasons.

OL and play calling just the same.
There is no similarity between Kramer or Tanner running for lives or anything else. Kramer is quick; Morgan is not. Kramer is athletic, therefore instinctive. Morgan is not.

At the very least, if you put Kramer in for a few set of downs it will confuse the opposing team since they could not have prepared for a different style QB. Then put Morgan back in and the opposing team has to adjust again. See which QB has the hot hand and then stick with him.

Kramer might be decent athlete, but he does not exactly look like like Ricky Foggie out there, and he is listed at not much more that 200 lbs.

What is Kramer's 40 time? 4.6? I doubt it.

You get that from what? An article about Kramer in practice?

You have 5 QB's, the next guy up started as a freshman, give him a try. All these college coaches are to full of themselves, it is a simple game, give players the opportunity to shine. A lot of politics in the QB position, guys like Morgan last because they know how to kiss up to the coaches, if Kramer's grand dad who owns a large Law firm in the cities and was the intern AD at the University, PJ would not have given him the time of day.
