Lot of time spent on something to asinine. Hope no one is dumb enough to vote.

I'd say it's warm and getting warmer. How the team plays does matter. Not just wins and losses. The question is whether Coyle will have a quick leash or let him try to grow into the job. Many factors will go into that decision.

Yeah, it's not a stupid discussion anymore. A couple weeks ago I would've said it's ridiculous. But this was another very uninspiring win against a bad team -- laced with baffling coaching decisions. Bottom line, they're in the same spot they were 2 weeks ago: win 1 of the last 3 and don't get embarrassed in the other 2, Claeys is back. Bonus if PSU ends up winning 8 or 9 games. That loss will look less horrible in retrospect...even though it still was, regardless.

Aside from the bogus targeting call late, we improved in the stupid penalty department this week. But still too many missed tackles! Today our tackling was awful, for the most part. That'll get us beat by each of the next 3 by multiple TD's if it continues. Offense rode Mr. Smith so hard that I wonder how much left he'll have in the tank moving forward. At times we showed some creative playcalling today. Progress, but still far from sold on Mr. Claeys as HC.

Why do we keep playing the safety at the line of scrimmage. Cost us 2 tds today

I said warm because there were some truly odd decisions by the coaching staff in an unimpressive win over a terrible team.

I haven't looked to see how Claeys explained the decision before halftime yet but that was truly one of the single dumbest decisions I have ever seen a coach make. I don't know what made him think it was smart to try and be aggressive in that situation, 99.99% of coaches take a knee and go into halftime with the lead at home.

Why did Claeys not go for 2 after the last TD?!

7-2 is completely safe - Period. But this isn't the end of the season so we need to see how we play against NE, NW & Sconnie and our bowl game.

We are guaranteed to have a record over .500. There is no way Claeys loses his job. Going over .500 at MN is like going 12-0 at Michigan.
Enjoy the roller-coaster that is Gopher football.

Hard to argue that. Nothing to do with the post you quoted, but you are correct.

Well xp gave them 9 point lead

Are people voting on what they want or what is?

His job is 100% safe right now. It's an odd discussion.

It actually gave them a 13 point lead. #Math

I guess I was thinking of different td. I was thinking he asking earlier score when it was 36-28. My mistake

Job security? Really? This still isn't program that is going to land a high profile coach. You take your chances with a guy like Claeys and go from there.

If anyone is watching this Nebraska or Iowa game and thinks anything less than 100, you are an absolute failure.

I'll vote IRRELEVANT.

Coach hot seat ratings only matter at the time they actually chose to keep or fire a guy. Week to week stuff is dumb.

Coyle in the meantime has given no hints about anything so there is no way to intelligently have a clue on what might happen.

Just like everyone declaring If X doesn't happen he's gone for sure!

It's just nearsighted dreams.

Is anyone of the opinion there is a subsection of folks that are fustrated the Gophers keep finding ways to win?

There has to be. The teams record right now has to be driving certain people here nuts. Getting harder to argue for firing the coaches and appearing to be sane at the same time.

I just wanna know who do they realistically think we will hire if we fire the coach?

It's not an odd discussion when you look at the next 3 opponents and you look at how this offense has been playing. The Gophers have been getting handed gift after gift this season. If Tommy Armstrong can't go that would be another huge gift. Otherwise I don't know what says to people we'll have a decent chance to beat any of the last 3. I think the Nebraska line would be about 11 with Armstrong.
