Max Shortell, a 6-foot-6, 214-pound quarterback from Shawnee Mission (MO) Bishop Miege who committed to Minnesota in June, told GopherHole.com that he is still planning on being part of the team next fall. Shortell led the Stags to the Kansas 4A state championship as a junior talked to GopherHole.com about his senior season, thoughts on the Gophers and expectations as a freshman.

Great article. I like how committed the kid is both to getting better at the game (training w Skip Stitzell), and to Minnesota (seems like a pretty solid commit, unless we switch to an option offense).

I'm also impressed with how Horton is still contacting the committed recruits (at least Shortell) weekly. Setting up visits for these kids in mid December, possibly after Horton is out of a job is a classy thing to do.
