Much more likely we break the revenue record for the second year in a row, as well as go dancing for the second year in a row.

In which dimension? I need to know because this one isn't it.

Sounds like you think this is the best it gets. You must be thrilled with mediocrity.

Yes this is exactly what I said........ What's with the board and the word mediocrity?

He may be a good coach with a half-filled Williams Arena watching a team vying for Penn State at the bottom of the league next year as well...

Only Maturi would sign a contract where he didn't have the funds available to pay off a failed coach. Teague will do what is best for the University regardless of whether there is a 2.5 million buy here. If he's willing to pay off UNC for football he'll pay off Tubby and wish him well at North Texas or Wartburg College or wherever he ends up next.

No you're wrong. He would never pay 2.5 million after all the heat he got over Brewster and the UNC buyout. It won't matter anyway...the Gophers will win Friday and Tubby will be back. Cry all you want...babble stupidity all you want.

Definition of mediocrity on GH = you don't agree with me

Deinitley possible, although not a poll option, to beat UCLA and still have Tubby end up fired.

You know what would quickly make the public forget about a 2.5 million buyout? Winning. If Teague thinks a change = winning. He will do it.

Look, I'm not happy with this season as most aren't. I also like Tubby as a person and coach for the most part. But if you honestly believe there is zero chance he is gone, you haven't been paying attention. I'm more confused why you seem to support Tubby over the players, the AD, the school, etc. I get the feeling you are cheering for the Minnesota Tubby's out there.

Thanks for the input, Saul. So, you're saying that Woody will live with below average coaching simply because the 2.5 million buyout is too much money to pay out. Yet, when the Barn becomes a cavernous pit of empty seats because the team can't score and a new set of players have defected, Woody will just grin and say..."Hey, but I saved us a 2.5 million dollar buyout!" Come on Saul, your daddy is overpaid and underperforming. It's time he moved elsewhere for everyone's benefit. But, if nothing is done, you'll be thrilled because you can get front-row seats for cheap!

Tubby will be back...beating UCLA or not. He's a good coach and there is NO WAY they will buy out another coach for 2.5 million. If you think the U will do that again after Brewster....you're just insane.

I agree that he is a good coach, any Big Ten coach is a good coach. In other conferences Minnesota would likely have a better record. And this year's team in other Tubby years may have done better. That said, doesn't the cheering for Minnesota in the Big Ten elevate expectations or should we be content with 6th place finishes year in and year out?

You're being too generous on the 6th place finish year in and year out...but otherwise well stated.

Never happen.

Never happen.

Don't forget, this is Minnesota. Folks won't put up with a continuously crappy product in perpetuity. Dan Monson found that out while he was here. People won't get angry necessarily, they simply won't show up because the thought process will be "same old, same old from Tubby's bunch."

You know, this part of it is what really concerns me. Even if we exceed expectations next year and start 15-1, or even 19-3 (4-2), how high will the excitement get? Won't a lot of fans' mindset be "well, we've seen this movie before..."?

I guess the only way to overcome that is to have a year where we finish strong in the BIG / down the stretch, whether that's with Tubby or with someone else

I feel the same way. But in these people's defense, how many times can you see the same scenario play out before you simply concede it will be the same sad story for the umpteenth time in a row? Folks in these cases don't expect success, rather they are shocked by it. That's the mindset of many Minnesota fans after years and years of crap teams stuffed down their collective throats.
