I think it's a year off. This year's team is more like 1996 but with more experience. Hopefully that leads to 3-4 more wins then that team had. (They should have made the NCAA tournament anyway and got completely hosed by the selection committee)
I think the Gophers are a year away from legit final four contenders. To get there this year would require some significant fluke or luck. The 1997 team was completely legit and one of the 4 best teams in the country. In 2010 I'll be happy with 1 NCAA win and thrilled with a Sweet 16 appearance.
