We are three games in, and the Gophers have found themselves in multiple 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 situations. Instead of running a sneak with our 6’ 5”, 230 pound QB under center, we have opted to do one of the following:
  1. Run a TE sneak
  2. Run wildcat with a fake handoff 3 yards behind the line
  3. Hand it off to the RB who started 6 yards behind the line
Why do we think this is?

drake snuck it against NW St on a 4th down and has a sneak for a TD (also against NW St)

Would go more with its not his game and they likely don't want him taking any hits

Just went back and watched. He did have a sneak for a first down, but his TD was a read-option run from shotgun.
ah sorry must've been putting them together in my head in remembering the sneak.

They tried the biker bar play of Beers and Geers earlier this year and that failed

if they don’t make time in practice for several reps, don’t run it in the game.

I agree the Qb sneak should be tried. One hinderance is I think all the off line starters are 6-4 and taller inside. They need to get lower than the defensive line to get a push.
