On the training table early in the FAMILY day practice.

Hope its minor and just hurts a lot!

Any idea what? Ankle, shoulder, cup too tight?

Gonna be some folks unhappy with a potentially avoidable injury. This seems like an unforced error if he’s out for an extended period of time.

We are definitely going to see breakouts out of the WR Room. There is a lot to be excited about.

We need CAB to be healthy!

Half of a CAB is better than anything OSU can put on the field.

Honestly I hope everything is ok, but I'm quietly optimistic about the other recievers and backs (dare I say tight ends also?). I think there is talent ready to shine, but there is no doubt he is the leader and needed.

My crystal ball says there is nothing serious about his injury. He's juking OSU into thinking he's hurt.

Daniel Jackson also left the field later, and spent time with a trainer, just next to the field while play continued. No idea what it could have been, but he returned to the O side sideline. Something along the lines of cramp, wind knocked out type of thing.

Dylan Wright looks smoooooth, and fast. Jonathan Mann looked big and fast, but did not get many reps vs the 1’s and 2’s during 11 on 11.

Gable was there for most of the practice, dapped it up with Boye and looked almost tiny next to him.

And the season ends before it begins....Morgan doesnt throw to TEs and CAB is the only WR he trusts...Happy feet will be back.

I hope CAB is ok. From what I've read online, the trainers checked his knee and then he walked off the field. I haven't seen video or anything and don't want to speculate, but I would feel a lot better if he was able to stay out and watch the rest of practice.

It's hard to come up with many players who would be a bigger loss to this seasons prospects: Morgan, Mafe, Ibrahim, and maybe Durr? The combination of CAB's talent and the youth/inexperience/unknowns surrounding him at WR make him just a crucial piece to the puzzle.

Come on sports gods, you've punished Minnesota enough over the years...don't do it again.

Gophers wide receiver Chris Autman-Bell during practice at Huntington Bank Stadium on Thursday.

Chris Autman-Bell, the Gophers' top returning wide receiver, suffered a right leg injury during a one-on-one drill Thursday night at the team's open practice at Huntington Bank Stadium.
Autman-Bell, a redshirt senior, was tended to on the field for a couple of minutes after being tackled by linebacker James Gordon IV. He was helped to the sideline by training staff, who were checking his right knee after he was placed on a table. Linebacker Braelen Oliver and running back Mohamed Ibrahim jogged over to the sideline to check on Autman-Bell and show their support while he was being examined. Autman-Bell was assisted to the locker room.
There was no update from a team spokesman on Autman-Bell's status, and coach P.J. Fleck, as was the plan for the practice, did not meet with the media afterward.
Autman-Bell has 78 receptions for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns in 33 career games. He has caught at least one pass in 27 consecutive games. Last season, he had 22 catches for 430 yards and one TD in seven games. Among wide receivers, Daniel Jackson had the next-most receptions for the Gophers in 2020, with 12 for 167 yards. Jackson, Texas A&M transfer Dylan Wright and Clay Geary would be among the wideouts in line to see more action if Autman-Bell misses time.

Tanner Morgan has his work cut out.

He is not without good options. With DylanWright, Boyd, Emilien, Geary, Brockington, Brown-Stephens, and others in the WR Room, the question is who will be the next man up? Who is ready, and who is not?

Brady Boyd intrigues me. He is another silent assassin to look out for.

We don't want a repeat of 2015! That was the year that the Gophers played against TCU in the opener. The team resembled a MASH unit.

😬

And you can be rest assured that PJ Fleck will dance around like a matador when asked to provide any kind of update on the health of Gopher players.

"Can you give us an update on Autmen-Bell's status?"

" ............... Well .... look .... we go out there every day .... changing our best ... Nekton mentality .... we strive for greatness ..... We have a culture that we've been cultivating since I got here ...... that culture is a combination of: i) desire to be a better person, ii) work your tail off for your brother, and iii) bring honor to the state of Minnesota and this great University. Next question."

It's Minnesota.

You can feel your spider sense tingling, on this one. Don't deny it

And why shouldn't he? There's nothing to be gained from disclosing the injury status.

Our season hinges on our ability to run the ball. If we run the ball, Morgan will have plenty of targets.
Our season hinges on Tanner Morgan getting closer to 2019 form.....he looked bad last year....and we ran the crap out of the ball last year and that didnt help him at all....

we wont win more then 5-6 games if Tanner plays like he did last year...

Geary looked good out of that slot position, Brockington impressed me with his limited catches. I did notice Morgan doing that double-clutching again where he sort of pats the ball a few times when he's got to come off the main receiver and find another.

Fingers crossed it is nothing serious. Guys get dinged up during practice all the time so it may very well turn out to be something minor and he will be back in a few days.

I wouldn't expect to get much out of Fleck but it will be pretty obvious if he is practicing or not so we should get a pretty good sense on how severe the injury was next week.

Tanner struggled last year, especially compared to 2019, but a huge part of our problem last year was the defense and kicking game. Way too much of the "blame" for how things played out last year gets put on Morgan.

With a lot of stability along the offensive line this year and a full season to adapt to Sanford's system, I think we will see a version of Morgan that is far closer to what we saw in 2019.

and like i said.....we will need him to be....
Tanner was bad last year.....and he should clearly take as much blame as the defense and kicking game for last year.....all 3 phases will clearly need to be better

Rumors of a shoulder injury for Tanner last year, I recall? He seemed to struggle with deeper throws, and they weren't doing those throws much at all last year. So that rumor might fit. Or maybe it's completely wrong and just an excuse.

I think he (also) just struggled switching from Ciarrocca's 7 (even 8!) man protections to Sanford's more standard 6 and sometimes empty, and getting more pressure/not having all day to sit back and wait for the route to develop before throwing.

Not to be a Richard, but Andy Greder and Saturday Tradition keep calling CAB the "best" receiver on the roster. Is he the best, or just the most experienced? Maybe some of the younger guys are better but we just don't know it. I mean, none of us watch these guys every single day.
If CAB is out for a while (which I hope he's not), this is a good opportunity for any one of the other receivers to step up and shine. And, maybe by reading "the best" next to CABs name some of these other guys will have a "well, watch this" attitude.
I like our receiving corps.
