CAB watch

Just like we ever got the official word from a player's social media or Fleck's mouth about what Oliver's actual injury was, right?

It was eventually just "this is known." mentioned in the media that he had a knee injury IIRC, but I don't think it was ever said officially. If I'm wrong I apologize, but please put the link.
That's true. I don't like that. Hopefully Monday we have some answers

Just have to change up the offense if he's out.
Remember when Chris Streveler threw for 7 yards in a win?
Matt Limegrover remembers.
I remember! Streveler attempted seven passes. One was completed; one was intercepted. Steveler and Cobb combined for 369 yards rushing; Streveler’s contribution was 161 yards on 18 attempts (8.9 yd avg). One completed pass and we win against a pretty decent opponent (San Jose State) 24-7. We won the turnover battle 3-1, which always helps a one-dimensional offense. Weird, wonderful game.

Saw a tweet that Streveler led a game-winning drive for Arizona in an NFL pre-season game. Strev led the Cards in passing (12 of 24, 107 yds) and rushing (10-55 yds). Probably winds up holding the clipboard in the regular season, but still gets to cash the paycheck.

Don't know when this was filmed, but CAB is in this an looks to be walking fine:

He posted this on instagram today, don't know when the pictures are from though.

Can't tell because of the filter, if the sky should actually be blue, or if the sky really was cloudy.

If it really was blue/sunny, then that's probably Saturday practice, which would mean he was fine?

Another tweet from "Gopher Scoop" posted at about Noon Sunday......weeks, not months. Still doesn't sound promising for the OSU game.....

@GopherScoop

Like I said before, the Autman-Bell injury does not seem to be a right knee injury as originally thought. Ankle injury is what’s being said, and the gophers caught a break by CAB avoiding a fracture or break in the foot. Weeks, not months, seems to be the timeline.

Excellent, if true. I was preparing for a season ending injury. Will need Jackson and newcomer Wright to step up their game.

but I’ll wait until the first statements to the media tomorrow.
When Fleck provides no hint of an answer?

If anything, he'll do everything he can to convince Ohio State that they need to prepare as if CAB is playing.

And that is fine.

Whoever Gopher Scoop is, hope they're right and not making it up to get Twitter followers.

What that tells me is when we run the ball we win. If we are forced into passing the ball we are going to struggle. That scenario is made more challenging this year w the injury to CAB. Two years ago we had Bateman and Johnson shredding defenses when we needed big plays. We need two more receivers to show up big this year to take the pressure off our run game. We want to pass when we want vs when we have to.

Well, yes, if we're forced to be one-dimensional on offense with the running game generating very little, we've had trouble historically, at least with good teams. We did win two of those four 2019 games mentioned where we had less than 100 yards from the running game but in one of them (Purdue), Tanner had what was likely a once-in-a-lifetime game and in the other (GA Southern) we needed a minor miracle from Tanner and the receivers at the end to beat a team we never thought would be leading us that late in the game.

Yeah, clearly has to be taken with a grain of salt until there is some sense of how plugged in this guy actually is. But hopefully he is correct and it is not knee related and not a long term thing.

I think Fleck thought Annexstad was the better passer, but he had trouble with pressure, and once the defense broke through, he struggled.

Morgan was excellent at using the pocket, feeling the pressure, and continuing the play after a breakdown.

One of those cases where the better football player beats out someone with more athletic skill.
Tanner to Tampa Bay. Plug and Play😁

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Oh sure, if it's good news and the player will be back for the next game, PJ Fleck is all about transparency.

At least we know now, that if Fleck won't say anything: assume the worst.

Didn't WR Douglas bail is out on that last drive against GA Southern? Decent receiver but I think we have better on our roster currently
I agree. Someone ALWAYS steps up at WR. I’ve seen just about every game since 1998 and someone steps up that no one (except the coaching staff) expects. We seem to have the same folks with the same angst every season.

He really didn't give much info on CAB, I heard the interview. I'm not sure why you have a problem with him keeping injury stuff close to the vest. Then again you seem to have a lot of issues with PJ in general.

I really don't, tbh. Just that, and his absurdly silly persona/schtick. All the rest of it - ie, the football stuff and selling recruits on the program, the stuff that matters - I think he's very good.

Fleck suggested last night that CrAB might even be available to play in season opener. Good news obviously, but Fleck has a history of saying guys are on the verge of returning from injury only to have them remain out for much longer. Other reports say that a return in time for Colorado is more likely.

If it's a sprained ankle it might be hard to predict, even for CrAB and PJ. Hard to say how quickly it will heal.
