His penalty is relatively minor compared to -Yeah, OP kind of buried the lead. Apparently he isn't facing criminal charges for the alleged assault which he claims was consensual but is getting suspended for 7 games for having pre-marital sex.......I get the whole religious school angle but wow that seems way over the top. Gotta think that honor code makes it much tougher to get non Mormons to transfer in.
The Green Bay Packers running back you're referring to is Jamaal Williams. Before joining the Packers, Williams played at Brigham Young University (BYU). In 2015, he was suspended for violating the university’s Honor Code—specifically for having a girl in his dorm room, which is against BYU policy.
Williams has been very open about the situation, once stating:
He chose to stay at BYU for a year despite the suspension, returning in 2016 and becoming the school’s all-time leading rusher, which impressed NFL scouts from Green Bay .“I had a girl in my room … Honestly it’s your responsibility for breaking the honor code, because they tell you the rules.”
So in short: it was Jamaal Williams, suspended in 2015 for having a female student in his dorm room.
