Not sure what this guy is using, but I don't want any.

@RandBall: Per @BTNBrentYarina, #gophers picked to finsih LAST in #B1G men's hoops next year. http://t.co/9kti0ANVVo

No. 12: Minnesota – The Gophers have talent in the backcourt, but they aren’t the greatest shooters, and with forwards Trevor Mbakwe and Rodney Williams no longer around to grab second chances, there will be struggles.

I'm gonna make a bold guarantee here and say that there is zero chance we finish last in the conference.

HAHAHA! They are paying this dude?

dear god... how is this guy even allowed to put crap out there?

Agree they are a long shot for last place. PSU and NW are going to be pretty bad.

Shoddy work. Shouldn't he realize that there's potential for addition by subtraction with Williams leaving, like Sampson? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Rodney hater. I appreciated who he was on the court. But he didn't offer much. It's not like our frontcourt will suffer. He didn't crash the boards, score with his back to the bucket, or have much of a high post game. He was an undersized 4 with super athleticism whose only means of scoring was breakaways or garbage baskets. Those players are fine to have, but that's not hard to replace.

Screw BTN. This can be motivation for the team.

I think Richard Pitino was just handed his opening message for his first practice with the team.

BTN....This Yarna guy....Never heard of him.

Won't finish last but I don't see them finishing above 7th

It would be fun to see the team improve during the season rather than go backwards each year. This shouldn't happen with Petino.

He lost all credibility when he picked Indiana to finish 7th.

I think this projection is another indication of why Tubby was released. Tubby indicated the 2012-13 team was his best at the beginning of the season and they finished 9th. It does show that Pitino has a lot of work to do.

Projections mean nothing in the pre-season.

Brent Yarina was hired by BTN to help run the website/online content (which is nothing more than a glorified blog.) For some reason they've let him venture into predictions and analysis the last couple of years.

He rarely (never?) says anything insightful.

Apparently he didn't listen to Barario (spelling) today when he said Vegas has us as 45-1 odds to win the national championship.

If the Gophers do not add some skilled front court players, a point guard and if Buggs does not become major contributor, I can see this happening. Most teams are adding highly rated recruits. Indiana has a great recruiting class. Northwestern gets their best 2 players back in Crawford and Cobb. Pitino will have a difficult time getting top tier high school recruits this year.

Yarina picks us last. Pregame.com has us as 35-1 odds to win the National Championship next year. Both are wrong!

could happen if he isn't able to counter the lazy-as* Tubby front court recruiting. Yes, I know, Ellis and Foster would have been the remedy.....

If we finish behind PSU, Northwestern and Nebraska, I'll eat this keyboard. Good lord.

How about we see what our roster looks like before we start making projections. We will likely be adding 3 or 4 players before next season starts. With that being said, the fact we have Dre and Austin is enough to beat Penn State.
