per Bennett's Q&A:

Brian Bennett: Mitch Leidner has won a lot of games, but he's never been fully embraced by a large portion of Minnesota fans. It's understandable, as he has had his ups and downs. Disappointingly, he has completed just 52.5 percent of his passes so far this season after a lot of talk about offseason improvement and his work at the Manning Academy. His QBR ranks below Maryland's Perry Hills, who was just replaced as the starter. Of course, we must mention Leidner has played two very good teams to start the season in TCU and Colorado State. Last week's game in Fort Collins was kind of Leidner in a nutshell. He scuffled for most of the game, but when the team absolutely needed him to make plays, he led the Gophers on a crucial drive to put them in position to win in overtime. Leidner hasn't exactly had great playmakers around him at receiver during his tenure, either. At this point, 18 starts into his career, Leidner is pretty much who he is: a very good leader, a guy who can run for tough yards and won't back down from a challenge, but also someone who's simply a little erratic as a thrower. That will be good enough for Minnesota to contend in the West, but I'm not sure if it's enough for the team to reach the next level. But I'm also not at all convinced that there's a better option on the roster.

Go Gophers!!

One was drafted in the second round this spring and another made an NFL practice squad.

I'm not sure Mitch can take us to the next level either. Not sure if Kill can. Not sure of a lot of things, but also believe those two things to be true. I'm definitely sure that Brian Bennett can't get the U to the next level. Probably can't get ESPN there either.

Not sure why people have an issue with Bennett's take here. Seems reasonable if slightly optimistic on Leidner and the Gophers prospects.

You should know by now that when the writers have a take that is 100% positive we think they are awesome and when there is even a hint of negativity in there they are a hack with no clue what they are talking about. I agree that Bennett's take was very fair.

Nobody talks like that about Mitch. Except us.

You can tell your wife that maybe another dress would be better but ill be danged if someone else comments on my wife's dress.

We'll eventually see Mitch Leidner playing on Sundays.

Single worst (dumbest?) comment I've ever heard on GopherHole. Cluelessness so abundant he has to just be trolling, but from previous stances, I have to believe the poor guy is serious....

What's the next level? Winning the big ten west? If that's the case he absolutely can. We were 1 game away last year. If the next level is winning the conference, aka beating Ohio State, then probably not. But we are still behind at a few other positions as well for that to happen.

I'm guessing that Friend of the U maybe related to Mitch. If so, I have no problem with the wildly optimistic posting.
Regarding Bennett's article, I think he re-capped our situation quite well.

Did you cut-and-paste this from a reply to one of your posts? lol
