Brewster At Media Day

What better way to honor the civil war soldiers than to build a giant concrete structure on the site that they once called home. Let's build a Wal-mart at Gettysburg next. Then maybe we can build an IKEA In Normandy France.

Maybe that was the rushing civil war of 1917:confused:

Anyway, I agree. I would rather go to the Bank to view a game!

Well, unless you consider the Civil War to be history.

Silly Badger, everyone knows nothing of historical significance happened prior to 1993. We'll forget this little episode so your *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#bag brethern won't disown you. You can owe us for it. ;)

We did build Memorial Stadium to honor our WWI "for ever". We tore that down after fewer than fifty years. We are in no position to throw stones at Camp Randall.

We can always throw stones at Wisconsin. We played in Memorial Stadium for over 50 years (1927 to 1981). It wasn't torn down until 10 years after we stopped playing there. Memorial Stadium should have lasted a lot longer, and would have if there would have been rennovation funding available, but I don't think there was any expectation that the stadium would last "forever".

Umm, Memorial was opened for action in 1924, the Gophers made it their home through the 1981. The stadium sat empty for another 10 years before its demolition. Since you're obviously no math wiz, that is more than 50 years. Further, there is no official dedication stating the stadium was built to honor the men who served "for ever". Not sure who this "ever" guy is, but as a history minor, I find no mention of him/her. Nor could I find anything showing the stadium was built to honor the men who served "forever". That said, it really is an absolute insult to comment on the obstructed seats at Camp Randall. You really nailed it, I mean you REALLY nailed it. Thanks again for the insight and admonition.

It was a misprint. Clearly, it was intended to honor baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Evers.

It may also have been for Ita Ever, who is absolutely huge in Estonia. Given your background, you're probably very familiar with her work.

By the way, (and forgive my gushing, I'm a huge fan), I loved your work at Oberstdorf.

It was pure Agony, I assure you! I am ashamed that I failed to equate my fellow Estonian with Memorial Stadium. I am truly kahetsema. :D

What, exactly, makes the Horseshoe, the Big House, Beaver Stadium, Camp Randall and Kinnick "heads and shoulders" better than TCF? I can understand that each of those facilities are steeped in tradition. What separates these venues besides a half century of tradition?

Better football teams!
