Brew Haters Aren't Realistic!!!

We needed to take a risk because we were soooooo far behind in talent compared to other Big Ten schools it was laughable. Mason fielded teams with players who should have been playing at St. Thomas not at a Big Ten school. We did not need some experienced head coach who knew X's and O's, we needed someone who was going to kick the talent level up to the upper tier of the Big Ten instead of our talent being dead last. Brewster was the right hire and he still is despite the record or the scoreboard

But Maturi could've hired a coach that was known to be a good recruiter and good coach correct? I do remember everyone being thrown off when the hire was announced.......

Their ending record showed they weren't that good so I definitely don't count that.......

1999...nobody expected Minnesota to beat PSU...*THAT* is the type of "W" people are talking about........

So according to you it doesn't count because of how their season ended? I didn't know you had a specific criteria as to what counts as an unexpected win.

Going into that game no one EXPECTED them to win the game and they did, so it does count.

If we beat Cal that would not have counted according to thailleagle either because their National ranking fell and they are now only ranked 24th

We weren't EXPECTED to beat Bowling Green either...you call *THAT* a signature win? LOL...stop it........

I think people are upset because Minnesota doesn't even look like they belong on the same field as Penn State and Ohio State, which is disturbing. The bone-headed penalties, arguing with coaches, losing to Wisconsin two years in a row and far below standard 2010 recruiting class are not signs of good things. Some blue-chip athletes are suspect in the class room and away from the field as well. What ever happened to the four-star running back from Texas? What about Gray, he's ran into issues as well. Whaley has an assault under his belt and a number of other players have been excused from the program. Also, he was unable to lock up Bryce McNeal, and it seems like a stretch that Henderson will commit to Minnesota as well. Minnesota has yet to defeat a good team since Brew has been here. It will take an upset victory over Michigan State just to finish .500 in the Big Ten, assuming the Gophers beat Illinois.
People are allowed to have their opinions. Period.

1999 PSU finished ranked and we beat them when they were #2....Illinois wasn't ranked when we played them and finished the season 5-7...you really don't see the difference?

who the hell cares about head coaching experience? At some point in time everybody had their first head coach job.
It's just pretty rare that it happens at a BCS school, especially one purporting to be investing heavily in the program and trying to take it to the next level. Usually when it does happen it's promotion of a coordinator from within, not hiring a position coach from outside the program.
Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden had their first jobs once and turned out to be pretty good coaches and people like you were probably bitching about their lack of head coach experience and would never hire either of them.
It's pretty telling when you have to go back to the 60s for an example. Furthermore Bowden had three HC jobs before Florida State: South Georgia, Howard College, and West Virginia.

And Paterno was a long time assistant prior to his promotion.
