Breaking from the Athletic: Big 10 to invite Washington and Oregon

Washington is much more relevant in football than Maryland, Indiana and Minnesota. The Huskies have been ranked at least one week in the last 13 of 15 seasons. Maryland has done that 3 times and Rutgers 2. Minnesota has been ranked in 4 seasons.

I've followed the Huskies for a good 25 years, so have always liked them. Being in the PNW, until more recently, has kept them more out of the spotlight. By far my favorite team to watch winding down in the evening at home (with a craft beer or whisky in hand) from a day at the stadium. Can't wait for my first game at Husky Stadium.

They will have to start hockey teams I guess.

Washington and Oregon have good second-tier hockey programs that have combined to make 18 of the 36 title game spots in their conference championship the last 18 years. I'm sure they couldn't hang with the current B1G, but maybe after some time...
