Bo Pelini fired.

There is one QB: Kevin Dillman from Texas

A brief scouting synopsis:

STRENGTHS: This is a very good athlete with a nice frame that should continue to fill out with bulk and strength. A dynamic prospect and great overall football player who is productive at multiple positions. Possesses raw arm strength at the QB position and has a great presence about him. Shows flashes of being a dominant player at what ever position he is deployed at. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: A savvy, poised player who needs to acquire more game experience under center exclusively. Will benefit from polishing his mechanics and settling in as a pocket player. Can be erratic likely due to inconsistent reps under center. ... BOTTOM LINE: Dillman is an interesting QB prospect who possesses good measurables. A tremendous athlete who projects to be a productive player at the next level at multiple positions. Reminds us of former Arkansas QB Matt Jones. In time he could be one of the best players at the position for this class.
Sounds like Leidner. Rivals lists him as a tight end.

I'm surprised Tressel's name isn't being brought up. B1G guy, big name, proven winner.
Granted he carries some baggage, but that hire would be a pretty big splash.

Tressel would be a great hire at Nebraska.

The B1G needs to elevate itself however possible and Tressel would help do that.

Please list the "participation" trophies Nebraska has won since it jointed the Big Ten. Yes, you are delusional.

OK, maybe Nebraska didn't even manage to win a participation trophy! If your dream season is 9-4 seasons whose highlight is miracle-finish wins against 5-7 teams like Northwestern, Colorado and McNeese State, then Bo is available to take you there!

Tressel also has two more years of show cause, and would be tough to pry out of the presidents chair at Youngstown State. Next.

That's what you get when you pad you schedule to win 9 games. Good luck getting a coach to come to your school if he has to win 10 games every year. The guy was a jerk through...perfect fit for Nebraska.

Nebraska scheduled (and beat) the Miami Hurricanes.

Don't see Kill as anywhere near their top choice and I don't see Jerry wanting to go there as he seems to like it here. Thought though... does kill leverage the facilities against him leaving? I could see Kill behind closed doors getting after Teague in that ground needs to be broken or he will pressure other options

I hope Kill leverages this to the hilt with the U. The facilities are a disgrace. Time to start showing like you at least might care about football.

Gophers's fans, how does it feel to be instrumental in at least two firings? Feels good to me.

Yes but we also saved Beckmahn's job.

i would argue his team did that for him the last few weeks. as tough as the season started for illinois, they got it going a bit in the last few weeks and deserve a bit of that credit themselves.

Tressel would be a great hire at Nebraska. The B1G needs to elevate itself however possible and Tressel would help do that.

I believe Tressel can't be hired until 2016 without 'show cause', which would essentially open up Nebraska to possible 'sanctions' if he were hired. That is, if they wouldn't be able to 'show cause'.

CBS: Possible coaching candidates for Nebraska

Jerry Kill: If Nebraska wants to poach a head coach from another school, Jerry Kill seems like a logical direction to go. Kill has decades of experience as a head coach, going 152-98 in his career. He's currently in his fourth season at Minnesota, where he's only 25-25 overall, but his teams have improved each season. This year's Gophers were ranked by the playoff selection committee before Saturday's loss to Wisconsin. Kill's Gophers team also beat Nebraska this season and finished ahead of the Huskers in the Big Ten West.

Go Gophers!!

Guys there is going to be speculation for some time about Uncle Jerry leaving us, but you have to be hard pressed to believe it. Jerry Kill seems to be quite an honorable man of his word, and leaving Minnesota right now would be an absolute slap in the face to the UofM and our fans for standing by him during all the health critics last year. Not to mention he would be a gigantic hypocrite for leaving a program that he constantly talks about building up. With that being said we should try and get this practice facility off the ground ASAP to not make his mind start to wander and for the benefit of the future of the Gophers.

Wikipedia lists Scott Frost as the head coach of Nebraska. Don't know if that means anything at all, but I thought it would be fun to post.

This is the second time they've fired a 9-3 coach! We fired Murray Warmath in 1971 and wandered in the desert for 26 years with five different coaches. Beware what you wish for...

I imagine Scott Frost will be a potential candidate. No matter who it is, I don't think they'll win as much as Pelini did. Tom Osborne isn't walking through that door (at least as a HC again!) and this isn't the glory days of the 90s.

I do believe that coaches that get along with the local media tend to get a longer leash than those that don't. This situation further validates that.

Go Gophers!!

Scott Frost has big support from fans in Nebraska - plus Oregon's offense is, was, and will be awesome. Plus he's young and would stay forever if successful

Much worse were the boosters getting rid of Cal Stoll, the last guy to win 6 games in the Big Ten, to bring in an "M" Club guy, Joe Salem. Both cases of delusion on the part of the boosters and fans. Nebraska people think the days of unlimited rosters and National Championships are only a Head Coach away. Back in 1980 Gopher Boosters thought that the Metrodome would bring nationally televised night games and a large boost in big time recruits for that national exposure and the chance to play on the same field as the NFL and Vikings.

Both groups were very short-sighted.

Nebraska scheduled (and beat) the Miami Hurricanes.

And Miami sucked this year and so did Fresno State. McNeese State and Florida Atlantic are not even football teams. None of those teams had a winning record this season. Period.

FYI...I live in the Godforsaken state of Nebraska (it's hell) and everyone is talking about Tressel as their next coach. Perfect fit for a team ready to do anything to win...hire a known rules breaker.

Fox Sports: Nebraska fires Bo Pelini: 7 strong candidates to be NU's next coach

Two older candidates whose styles would play well in Nebraska are Minnesota's Jerry Kill and Wyoming's Craig Bohl, a former long-time Husker assistant. Kill's 53 -- probably younger than most assume -- and has led the Gophers to an 8-4 season that included a win in Lincoln last week, and his success in the Big Ten won't go overlooked.

Go Gophers!!

It's official on the Husker Twitter page.

Some program is going to get a great coach, and the next coach in Lincoln won't be successful in the fans eyes.

What a delusional program.

+1. Nebraska needs to get real. It's not 1980 anymore. Nebraska is in the middle of nowhere, and hasn't been one of the premier programs in America for at least 15 years. There is very little difference between Iowa and Nebraska now. But Iowa is not stupid enough to fire Kurt Ferentz for going 9-3.

Playing Miami in non-conference = padding the schedule? Man they have really fallen off.

Wow... How many more chances will Lane Kiffin get before it will finally sink in that he is not meant to be a head coach?

...and that's why Iowa will remain Iowa.

I think Kiffin has found his calling as OC for a helmet school. I wouldn't give that up if I were him. He's got it made right now.
