Bo Pelini fired.

Biggest concern for Gopher fans: How does this impact Faux Pelini? And will the Bits of Broken Chair Trophy continue in his absence?

Faux Pelini lives forever. He will enjoy his new home in Gatorland.

Isn't Greg Schiano Bo Pelini's evil twin brother?
More of the same if you ask me...

Exactly. They are an delusional fanbase. We haven't had a 9 win season since 2003.

Delusional? LOL Nebraska expects a lot better, and they should. Maybe feasting like cupcakes like Purdue and Illinois and losing almost every meaningful game is considered "success" in the old Big 10, but it was a complete embarrassment in Lincoln.

Nebraska still a really good job and they have resources. Someone is going to walk into a good situation.

Not going to lie. One of my first thoughts was that I hope Faux Pelini can make it through this and gets a new contract. Guy is a great faux personality and faux coach and deserves better than this. ;)

Looks like 14 commits for next year. They all get to shop around if they want?

You mean kind of like they used to feast on Iowa State, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Missouri and at times under achieving Texas A&M and under achieving K-State in the old Big 12? Talk about a program that padded it's conference stats for decades.

Look, I understand the pride their fan base has, I do. But as others have already said, their fan base and expectations are in fact delusional. Smh. As a recent ESPN article and commentators recently stated, this is what you are Nebraska (and had started to become in the old Big 12). A really solid program year in and out with great facility resources (i.e. understand that doesn't mean they have a fertile recruiting base to pull from regionally and their brand isn't as "in" as it was in the 80's & 90's) and a very loyal fan base.

The 1980's and early to mid 1990's are not coming back Nebraska fans. Deal with it. Tom Osborne, Tommie Frazier, Mike Rozier, Eric Crouch et. al are not walking through that door.

Kill would be stupid to leave for Nebraska, with those expectations. Plus, I think Nebraska needs and wants a better coach. Kill has yet to prove he can win the big games against upper echelon coaches. Not worried. Plus, at this point, I have every confidence in Teague and Kaler.

AD has ties to Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Miami. He's from Wisconsin. Who makes the hire? The AD, Osborne or Alvarez? Will Osborne and Alvarez be sharing notes in the boardroom tomorrow and Tuesday?

The media thrives on this type of speculation. It generates engagement and clicks, everything they are measured by in today's media world. But let's get real, Jerry comes with way more risk than reward to Nebraska. They are goingto be swinging for home run. I see his name on the wall, but Nebraska wants more than Jerry and I don't see Jerry walking into huge expectations. He sells low and delivers high.

The expectations and pressure probably keep Kill away. They'll go after a big name or a young hotshot IMO

With the sky high expectations at Nebraska, do you really think they'd stand by Jerry Kill if he has any more health issues going forward? Doubtful. I'm not sure if they'd be ok with his lack of recruiting prowess either.

It's "delusional" to expect to win something more than a "participation trophy" with some of the best resources in the nation? Right, you'd love them to roll over and give up like that.

Don't see Kill as anywhere near their top choice and I don't see Jerry wanting to go there as he seems to like it here. Thought though... does kill leverage the facilities against him leaving? I could see Kill behind closed doors getting after Teague in that ground needs to be broken or he will pressure other options

Shoot, no QB's.

There is one QB: Kevin Dillman from Texas

A brief scouting synopsis:

STRENGTHS: This is a very good athlete with a nice frame that should continue to fill out with bulk and strength. A dynamic prospect and great overall football player who is productive at multiple positions. Possesses raw arm strength at the QB position and has a great presence about him. Shows flashes of being a dominant player at what ever position he is deployed at. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: A savvy, poised player who needs to acquire more game experience under center exclusively. Will benefit from polishing his mechanics and settling in as a pocket player. Can be erratic likely due to inconsistent reps under center. ... BOTTOM LINE: Dillman is an interesting QB prospect who possesses good measurables. A tremendous athlete who projects to be a productive player at the next level at multiple positions. Reminds us of former Arkansas QB Matt Jones. In time he could be one of the best players at the position for this class.

This right here.

I'm surprised Tressel's name isn't being brought up. B1G guy, big name, proven winner.
Granted he carries some baggage, but that hire would be a pretty big splash.

Please list the "participation" trophies Nebraska has won since it joined the Big Ten. Yes, you are delusional.
