During Mike Sherels' career as a middle linebacker for the University of Minnesota, he was known for hard work, persistence, determination and being in the right place at the right time. A little more than three years after his playing career ended, Sherels can now thank those same attributes for having a foot in the door of collegiate coaching.

Mike Sherels is the type of guy I could see coaching the Gophers in 15 years or so. Will learn the business under an organized, passionate coach in Kill, bleeds Maroon and Gold and, from everything I've heard , is a smart guy with a good football mind.

That could be a great thing down the road. Kind of like Painter at Purdue.

Great to have a guy on board like that who is so passionate about the program.

Good, good, good!

We're desperate for continuity wherever we can find it.

And what better place to start than with Mike?

Maybe coach should assign Mike to do some damage control with certain past Gopher players.

I think Mike was coaching at Prior Lake and it might be nice if he has K. Dunbar's ear.

It would be great to get former Gophers into coaching. Build up a pool of coaches whose dream job is the coaching the Gophers.
