With Kevin Stefanski also getting axed by the Browns, only the Bengals Zac Taylor remains as a returning HC in the AFC North.

Dan Graziano's predictions based on what he's hearing:

Cardinals coach: Klint Kubiak, Seahawks offensive coordinator

Falcons coach: John Harbaugh, former Ravens head coach

Ravens coach: Kevin Stefanski, former Browns head coach

Browns coach: Mike McDaniel, former Dolphins head coach

Raiders coach: Robert Saleh, current 49ers defensive coordinator

Dolphins coach: Chris Shula, Rams defensive coordinator

Giants coach: Jeff Hafley, Packers defensive coordinator

Steelers coach: Jesse Minter, Chargers defensive coordinator

Shout out for Ogie's guy:

Other potential candidates: If the Steelers want to go a little off the board, watch out for Broncos QBs coach Davis Webb, who turns 31 next week and is getting attention from several teams for offensive coordinator and even head coach interviews.

He said "stepping down", not admitting himself to the loony bin. 😉

With both Tomlin and Harbaugh hitting the market, we're going to find out what kind of swag Brady carries around the league with coaches.

It should be very interesting to see who really does end up in Vegas. I'm not ruling out anyone but the lack of a QB has to hurt their chances for a more established candidate.
Not as much as some imagine, I imagine 🤷‍♂️

I saw one argument, more than one actually, that the Raiders could be the best job out there. I don't know that I agree with it, there are so many holes on the roster, but it's certainly not the worst.

A shitload of available cap space, the #1 overall pick, warm climate with no state income tax, Jeanty and Bowers, new stadium and the new facilities in Henderson have been ranked among the best in the NFL, et al.

Some guy who is apparently tied into the NFL, particularly the New York area, claims the first HC domino is about to fall in the next couple hours. I guess we'll see. Could be the Giants, as it seems he's connected there

I don't really know if he's very connected in the NFL (likely not a LOT?) but Warren Sharp is one of the major heavy hitters for NFL/NCAA football gambling analysis, etc. He thinks Sirianni should/could be out after that debacle. Sirianni is another coach I have not ever been very big on; when he has elite OC's and DC's, he does pretty well. The Eagles offense has not been great all year, despite having a pretty talented roster.

I wonder if more changes are coming across the NFL, whether it's Green Bay and/or Philly?

as expected, patullo fired.

Steelers would still retain the rights to Tomlin, so a team that wants him would have to trade for him, like the Broncos did with Sean Payton. The Broncos gave up a 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, and got back Payton and a 3rd rounder. Have to believe the arrangement for Tomlin would be somewhat similar.

Maybe Tomlin sits out a year to relax, who knows. Part of me thinks he's had (or his agent has had) at least some kind of tentative discussions with one or more teams for him to just walk out the door. Maybe not though.
The rumor I've seen is that he has a large TV deal in place.

I was hoping I'd see more Cignetti to Steelers rumors...
So were Gopher and B1G football fans.

Schefty and Jeremy Fowler both just said they haven't heard even a whisper from any team about reaching out to Cignetti for their openings. Seems strange.

Skor north keeps hinting that Flores is in trouble in some way. Not sure why they are stating half truths

Via The Athletic regarding Harbaugh -

Favorites emerge for Harbaugh
The Giants, Falcons and Titans are early leaders to hire John Harbaugh, sources told The Athletic yesterday, and it comes as no surprise. Both New York and Tennessee have surefire starting quarterbacks in the building already, and many are still convinced that Michael Penix Jr. could be the long-term option in Atlanta.

I get that's where he's interviewing, first. I don't know that those teams are the front runners though? There is a lot of time left to interview with other teams.

The article sure has odd wording. I just can't believe that Atlanta is a real possibility, although moving on from Fontenot as GM and bringing in Matt Ryan to help will likely improve things. But "many are still convinced Michael Penix could be the long-term option in Atlanta"? Wowzers. I'm also not 100% convinced that Dart and Cam Ward are "surefire starting quarterbacks" just yet? Both showed some good things but both have a ways to go. Dart puts himself in harms way even more often than JJ McCarthy, and that's saying a lot

To be fair, of the places only Baltimore has a settled qb slot. Think you’d be hard pressed to look at any of the other options and think the qb situation looks good unless you’re really high on Mendoza and thus the raiders.

Of the options, all of them have been rapid cycling except Baltimore and Pitt (can you imagine the uproar if Pittsburgh signed Harbaugh lol). All of these ownerships and front offices are dysfunctional imo

I never realized this about Tomlin until I saw it the other day, but for as long has he's been around, he has zero coaching tree. There aren't any coaches that have grown up under him and been successful elsewhere.

Rich McKay is OUT in Atlanta. That probably helps the odds of landing John Harbaugh.

For whatever reason, the gambling show I catch sometimes has Shula as the highest betting favorite for the Steelers to hire for HC.

I'm surprised only the 2 teams have satisfied the Rooney rule already, although there have not been that many actual in-person interviews yet, a lot of virtual ones.

FWIW -

It was previously reported that Harbaugh was going to conduct preliminary phone interviews with all comers and from that list cull it down to 3-4 in person interviews only.

He can handle the NY market would be treated like the second coming.

Regarding the QBs mentioned in the blurb I posted, would you take any of the available QBs in the upcoming draft over them?

Lots on enticing playmakers; the fun he’d have with Mr. Robinson🥳

Yup. They are pulling out all the stops, for sure.

Has the feel of when folks were watching the airport for arrivals for the hiring of the Gophers hoops coach

Seeing this in multiple places, seems to be a lot of smoke behind it. He may still honor his commitment to talking to TN and ATL but who knows...

Sounds like a done deal. The Giants made it their priority and got it done. Good on them.

Neither Tomlin nor John Harbaugh have ever been part of a "rebuild" project such as the Raiders.
That's why I think it's a longshot for either of those guys ending up in LV. What a fun storyline it would be if Tomlin stayed in the Division and went to the Ravens.
It was not the Raiders, but still Harbaugh is going to a place which is without a doubt a huge rebuild, which could be massive depending on Dart being productive and/or healthy.

Just guessing why Giants was more attractive:

- Less fierce division currently.
- Only competition with brother Jim would be in the Super Bowl.
- They gave him tons of power.
- They gave him tons of cash.
- If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.

Per The Athletic, here’s the breakdown of potential rookie HCs and former HCs who have been contacted by teams for interviews.

The Steelers will be interviewing Flo as well.
