I'm sure Frost is great at recruiting. But so are most of the coaches at the P5 level. Most were proven recruiters at major P5 programs and/or coordinators at P5 programs, or they were head coaches in the G5 and had success.

Is Frost better at recruiting, purely in regard to that skill, than Fleck? I would guess probably not.

And the big problem is ... why would an elite TX recruit skip over Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, OU, to come to Lincoln? Why would an elite southeastern recruit skip over Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, Florida, FSU (not so much very recently), LSU, to come to Lincoln?

Even worse trying to get elite recruits out of California. Long ass way to Lincoln from the coast.

Probably don't even bother trying to get kids from Ohio/PA/NJ to take visits to Lincoln.

It's almost perfectly equidistant far away from all the hotbeds.

Neb lived off of partial counters, in the heydays. Those days are gone.

I hate to kick a dead horse but Nebraska should have been booted from the B1G in 2010 when the AAU dropped them.
What exactly did the Big Ten get by letting Nebraska join?

I think they wanted an additional competitive team in the West and seeing Neb was an AAU school they pulled the trigger. Neb even confirmed they probably would not have been invited in if they were not an AAU member school at the time.

There are far, far more cable subscribers in the Northeast than there are in NE.
Adding cable subscribers was not the main reason NE got in. The stay is not very populated to state the obvious.
The BIG needed another team. NE was on the run from the Big 12 and Alvarez played there.

Ummmm it's one of the most rabid fan bases in the country. I'm not just talking cable subscriptions.

The $$$ come from cable subscribers. Even if you are not a fan of the BIG you will have it asa required part of your package.
So it is total numbers of subscribers that count not how rabid the fans are.

I've heard some arguments that adding Neb also allowed the BTN to get on a lot of cable systems in Denver and Kansas City, due to alumni numbers there. Would like to see the numbers on that, but I think that's plausible, and would definitely make up for the lack of population in the state of Nebraska if they could get significant system coverage in those two markets.

And yes, at the time, they were still probably one of the more popular national college football brands, which everyone assumed they would shortly be rising back to national prominence.

At that time they were under Bo Pelini and he actually had them fairly competitive in the Big XII, still. Indeed, the first couple years they got into the Big Ten they did pretty well.

Has been a nose dive for them from there, since they fired him.

Money comes to the universities in more ways than cable subscriptions.

Weird. The timing is all wrong in terms of his contract, goals, etc. Might be a health problem - or a coup d'etat?

It’s not just looking at home many subscribers are added by adding a new city or state, it is also looking at does a fan base add market share and in turn advertising revenue in an existing market.

He announced he would complete his contract previously but it is most likely the university wants a new younger AD who is more on line with the rapidly changing landscape of NIL coming onboard. I know Nebraska is planning to go all in on this and has some help/guidance from alums and founders of opendorse.com which kind of led the way in this space for years with monetizing pro athletes social media presence.

Could this somehow … some way … please … be a pathway for Nebraska to return to the Big XII ?????

End the failed experiment.

He says he was told abruptly (he won't say by who) that his employment was ending June 30.

It doesn't sound like this was his call at all...

It has been explained to you a thousand times that it has not been a "failed experiment". Whether people want to admit it or not, both the Big 10 and Nebraska have benefitted from the move.

And no matter what some Neb fans might say about missing the old rivalries ... they left the B12 for reasons that still exist.

No doubt they’ve enjoyed the Big Ten’s money!

Their new Taj Mahal football practice facility is being built by the BTN!

And how many bowl wins, national titles, and increased national TV viewership did we get out of it???

Not even close to covering the checks we’ve written them.

You really think the B10 hasn't benefitted from Nebraska? You're out of your mind.

They were added for national cachet and to be nationally competitive in football.

That's why the Big Ten pays them $50M a year.

Let's hear your argument for what they've done that's worth that.

Question: Can they be reinstated by the AAU?

They were added because that fan base spends ungodly amounts of money on that program.... The Husker BRAND is why they are in the B1G
