BTN Live will return for a second-consecutive day, once again providing live coverage of the coaches and their players visiting the set from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

---------------
Looking forward to hearing Dantonio and Meyer on Harbaugh. Kirk on his program's decline. Harbaugh of course. Fitzgerald's always good to listen to...no one usually knows what to expect from his squad. I heard Chryst is really boring.

Tim Beckman oozing bluster and bravado never addressed the questions And gave the appearance of man in denial. If he doesn't win 8 or 9 he is gone.

I don't think he answered one question that was posed to him.

He is a dead man walking.

Oh Timmy. What is it about guys named Tim and their false senses that they can successfully blow smoke up people's butts?

I think if he makes a bowl he will not be fired.
In terms of record last year Illinois had more improvement than Minnesota. They also best Minnesota head to head.

I was waiting for him to start talking about Hot Chili, but no, he went full-monty acronym.

Kevin Wilson wasted no time tossing last years guys under the bus.

Was asked about replacing the whole d-backfield. Basically said we sucked last year so having new players and coaches back there will make us better. Now this may be true but what kinda idiot says it

Beckman was robbed of Coach of the Year.

Beckman was robbed of Coach of the Year.

No he wasn't considering the outside things going on.

The clear coach of the year to me.
A distant second would have been dantonio or kill.

Beckman was probably the 4th or 5th most deserving (depending on how you feel about Rutgers last year).

My point was more that he had a pretty solid year last year on the field. So if he probably doesn't need to win 9 games to keep is job.

Athlon has him as the #1 Hot Seat Coach:

College Football's Top 10 Coaches on the Hot Seat for 2015

1. Tim Beckman, Illinois
Record at Illinois: 12-25 (3 years)

It’s been a difficult offseason for Beckman, as allegations of player mistreatment surfaced in May, adding to the pressure for a program that is just 12-25 over the last three years. Illinois has showed some improvement under Beckman, jumping in wins from just two in 2012 to four in 2013, followed by a 6-7 mark last season. The Fighting Illini needs to get back to a bowl in 2015 to save Beckman’s job.

Keep in mind the purpose of the Athlon article is to sell a product.

Do you really think 7-6 gets him fired?
I don't. I think 5-7 or worse probably does.

Last year they were 4/10 with the same article. Of the 6 people that didn't get fired they just put 4 of them right back in the article.
Pretty easy to just say coach X will be fired this year over and over.

They were wrong on London, Beckmann, turner, and chow last year and put them in again this year.

They were wrong on flood and holgerson last year and took them out.

My biggest concern for Beckman is the allegations - true or not, the powers that be at Illinois may not think it's worth the potential PR nightmare. Especially if your team isn't putting butts in the seats. I actually think Beckman is a good coach, but there's other issues at play. Cheers!

Are you 12 years old?

Huh?

Seriously, you act so outraged about something a coach says that is completely innocuous. I can only assume your are a member of the everyone gets a trophy generation.

I made the comment that Wilson just tossed a bunch of guys who busted their asses for him right under the bus about 30 seconds into his press conference. Thats a jerk move. I am not of the "everyone get a trophy" generation. I guess calling me 12 is suppose to be an insult I just don't get it.

Again I was not outraged. I didn't spell anything in all caps or use a line of !!!!!!!!!!. I was just making a comment on Wilson. You sure do read a lot into a pretty observational post.

Personally, I think I'd rather fly first class than on that little Beech craft King Air Turbo prop. Probably pretty cool for the youngsters though. Is kill using this plane for recruiting or does he have a private jet

STrib: Highlights from Day 1 of Big Ten football media days

• New Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst on the Badgers’ depth and his return to the program:
“There are players at Wisconsin that know how to win and what it takes to win. And our challenge and our opportunity is for this year’s team to be able to do that. And we’ve got great leadership from the seniors, juniors, and we’ve got a young group of players that I think are anxious and ready to follow their lead. And again, being back, there’s so many great things for me coming back to the University of Wisconsin. But the best part of coaching to me always has been working with the players and helping those individuals be the best they can be, and then getting a group of individuals to be the best team that we can be.”

Day one grades for Coaches Presentations at The Big 10 Kick Off

Mark Dantonio a B+
Kevin Wilson D
Tim Beckman D
Randy Edsall B+
Paul Cryst C
Urban Meyer C+
Kirk Ferenz C

It should be noted Meyer was left answering questions about the suspensions and few questions about repeating. And the pool of Coaches on the hot seat, both Wislon, and Beckman demonstrated why. I was not impressed by Coach Cryst. He comes off as a little to disinterested. Edsall gave insight into his kicker, Brad Craddock and his leadership committee. I think he gets it, the problem is he is in the East. He sees Penn State as the rival in recruiting and on the field. Beating PSU in Happy Valley was huge for them on both fronts.
