BIG Anouncement ??

It's not recruiting news, one coach even speculated the other day that they might not get a commitment until may or June.

The practice facility has been a Tubby issue since the day he walked on campus and he will get it done. I imagine that the announcement will be about the long term plans for a practice facility, maybe some early drawings and plans, something to show recruits, like Brewster used the new stadium.

Jay Burson almost killed himself here. Of course, that had nothing to do with the raised floor.

Never say never.

Tubby almost left Kentucky in 2001 because of a lack of commitment to facilites by Larry Ivey who said (while programs like Florida were undertaking massive, multi-million dollar facilities upgrades) "We're Kentucky. We don't need it" in addition to some other issues concerning how Ivey was using the Athletic Department as his own personal fiefdom and piggybank (along with former UK A.D. C.M. Newton). He finally got his AD who was committed to the practice facility project, got it built and then left anyway.

All that being said if you have an Athletic Department committed and an open checkbook (like Billy Donovan has at UF or Izzo at Michigan St. for a more local example) towards recruiting budgets, assistants pay and facilites I don't foresee Coach Smith leaving. But I didn't think he'd leave the way he did from Kentucky so, like I say, never say never.

I do like the previous suggestion

that the practice facility have a silo. Now that would be cool.

Go Gophers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he announced that he might leave because of the practice facility, how easy would it be to fundraise for one? I imagine alot of gopher fans will dish out some money to have this coach stay here... at least i would think
