Let that sink in for a moment. And nearly all of you want to reward the coach who led this effort with a pink slip.

Headline is self serving, but I would agree with you that my mid season pink slip hints were way out of line. I mean, think of what I had to work with here.

Stupid. That win in '97 they just highlighted did happen.

Yup. Don't like tubby and want him fired. Congrats to the TEAM (players) not the coach. May he be fired at the end of the season.

Wait a second, one tourney win wipes away a massive underachievement in the regular season? I don't think so.

Great win tonight. Let's hope for similar results on Sunday.

Best team in 15 years finishes 9th.

Ecstatic with the win, still wanting Tubby bon voyage.

Dooshiest post ever on this board. Did you have that queued up for the past two months just in case?

Even though the major networks will show highlights, we're legally obligated to not mention it. We must be anal.

The OP has a point. Although I am frustrated with Tubby, until this program actually invests in itself like its a Cadillac (practice facility, etc) instead of a Ford, we should be very happy to have a Tubby caliber coach (as opposed to another Monson).

Save your headline until Sunday. It could be ugly. If this is our best season in 23 years it says nothing other that we accept bad basketball.

Your right 15, 97 happened as far as I'm concerned. I have many good memories of that team.

+1. The players had a fire in them today that I haven't seen since Indiana. Are we...a tournament team?!

That's like saying Kill had one of the better Gopher Football seasons in the past 50 years. Big whoopie. We'd like to make it to the dance consistently and maybe be higher than an 8 seed once every 10 years. Especially since we're supposedly a basketball school...

It really craps on the players from those teams who weren't cheating. For the sake of decency at least think of them.

I'd agree for the simple fact we're advancing farther than Wisconsin. When is the last time that happened?

Congrats dpdoll68! You've made the worst post since "the Loon" was finally banned.

About this season you said that if Minnesota failed to finish in the top 5 of in the Big Ten that you would want Tubby Smith to be fired.

They finished in a tie for 7th place in the standings and were earned the 9th seed in the Big Ten tournament.

Do you still want Smith to be fired or have you changed your stance on this? If your stance has changed, why?

Pretty funny how the reigning champion of mediocrity comes to rain on the parade.

What metric would place the recently completed Gopher season ahead of even half of them from the last decade? He went 6-6 and lost a bowl game. We've had about 5 of those in the last 10 years. I don't see how winning a tourney game for the first time in 15 years equates to that.

But anywho, there is something to be said about the situation this program is in. By the simplest of metrics, this team has now advanced further than they have in 15 years. Logic would tell you that should not lead to a firing. But yet, most fans would approve of the move. I tell you what though, if they compete Sunday and just lose a tough battle to Florida, I would HATE to be in Teague's shoes, cause that's one of those "no man's land" type situations there. Whatever happens from here, I just hope it's definitive, and there's a plan in place.
