Best h.s. qb in MN next season

i know alts playing hockey but he is a talent on the FB field as well and the best QB prospect in the state next year as of right now

I'm not a great hockey mind, so could someone brief me on Alt's hockey vs. football potential?

It doesn't really matter. He likes hockey more and has a scholarship from the Gophers. He's not going to change his mind.

Alt? he is the best qb prospect? wow I watched him play and no way he would he make division II roster.

If he is the best qb prospect, thank god we have gray and alipate for a while now.

He had his choice of any hockey program in the country. I don't anticipate Florida, USC, Alabama, Texas or Oklahoma offering. That should put things into perspective.

maybe not but i had heard that ucla were taking a look at him. where did his dad play at in college?

assuming you are not joking, i believe Alt's dad is around my age, having played HS ball about the same time. His HS was columbia heights and played for IA. grrrrr.

prior to your post, i wasn't sure we'd see anything factually correct within this thread :D

I've seen Alt play too and I didn't think he looked like a Big Ten QB. I could be wrong but I don't think there will be a QB in the state of Minnesota that gets a scholarship offer to play at Minnesota this year. Most of the talent in the state is along the OL, DL and at LB/RB.

About the only thing that seems certain is that he will not duel sport it at MN. Between Hockey and football, you have a couple of pretty rough sports on the body. It aint going to happen.

i dont want alt either and i also dont think we will take a QB from minnesota. im just saying what i saw and heard

Jmo (Parsons) certainly is silky with quite an arm. Having seen Eagan play at least 4 games last year, he would be familiar with Dunbar's old offense. Eagan spreads 'em out and sees what happens. Just like the Gopher's Weber, Parsons gets beat up in the Lake Conference. What a tough kid he was last year as a sophomore. He could use some meat on his bones, and mature a bit, but he could be Division 1 material. His center is doggone good, too.

I heard that his hockey scholarship offer from the Gophers was for only 15 per cent.
If he were to get a full ride to play football somewhere, that could change his mind.

He's suddenly been pimping his football skills a lot more since last winter...as of then he was all gung ho for hockey..now it seems he is trying to keep his hockey offer while shopping himself for football offers...frankly ticking off some of the more connected people in the hockey program from what i've heard.....

this could be interesting to see what happens....but it definately seems like he wants to play football instead of hockey now...which according to all the scouts seems like a stupid idea since he projects as an NHL talent nut not an NFL one... but i'm not Mark Alt and he can make up his mind...be a star defenseman for the gophers, or ride the pine as a 3rd string qb for a bcs football program.

Parsons from Eagan is one of the best all around athletes in the state in any grade. I don't know if his arm strength and pure passing ability would translate to big time DI football, but the kid can make plays. He is a bit injury prone (broken foot as soph and collarbone as this past season), but the Eagan team was a different animal with him on the field.

I Like your moniker.

Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave, but don't leave me
Look around
Choose your own ground

Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be

Run, gopher run
Dig that hole, forget the sun
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down
It's time to dig another one

For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave

That wasn't the intended reference, but I think I like the Floyd angle more than my original meaning.

"pimping" his football skills:rolleyes:

great verb, you (gopherguy05) of the limited vocabulary:rolleyes:

As far as Alt being all "gung ho" for hockey...was this to the exclusion of football?
Can't a modern-day Joe Mauer be gung ho for two sports?

The "connected people" in the U's hockey program (i.e. Don Lucia) are not stupid. They know Mark Alt has always had football in his heart...but not to the exclusion of hockey:D

Probably not the best as of next year, but Phillip Nelson from Mankato West is gonna be one hell of a QB. He's only going to be a Junior, and started last year on a team that made it to the Championship game. He has great potential and is 6'3" I'm pretty sure (don't quote me on that ha). He's probably going to walk out of West the best QB in the school's history. I believe last year going into the Championship game he had 20+ TDs and less than 5 INTs.

Minnesota and QB recruits don't belong in the same sentence.

Joe Mauer never played College QB so no one knows how that would have worked out
