Badgers going down...

Ben Brust cries in post game interview

Love it.

#schadenfruede!

At least he cared. Better than just shrugging and walking off the court.

I am going to troll the Buckyville BB site for a few good laughs!! Go Gophers!! Becky can go to hell!!

He's crying, because he has to play another year. Other than Deccker, they haven't got jack sh-t for next year.

And yet, I'm betting Bo, though I really dislike him, will have them finishing in the top half of the B1G again.

Word. The NCAA tourney isn't worth shrugging off. Nice to see someone care enough to have a loss affect them.

Beyond the point......GO GOPHERS! On to the round of 32! Look out Gators. The only thing you will be chompin' is the off season.

I know you guys are having your fun making fun of the Badgers, and have at it, cause they were really awful yesterday. But Brust is a good kid and this was a disappointing end to an emotional season for him. Prior to the season starting, a cousin who he was very close to was killed by a drunk driver. Then he was involved in the collision that resulted in Josh Gasser's torn ACL. It certainly wasn't anyone's fault, but it sounds like the injury was pretty tough on Ben.

Looking forward, Dekker should certainly be the focal point for UW. Brust has turned into a very solid Big 10 player, and hopefully Gasser returns to form next season, as he was a pretty nice player prior to the injufry. For those who haven't seen Koenig, he's fantastic, a very complete guard who I hope will earn some minutes next season next to Gasser and Brust. The two Ohio forwards (Vitto Brown and Nigel Hayes), both of whom Tubby wanted, will probably need to contribute in the frontcourt. And don't forget Riley Dearring. :p

I love seeing the Badgers lose........but my post had nothing to do with that. If anything, I was defending Brust. Dekker is going to be a stud. No question. You lose a few good players this year, as does most Big Ten teams, but the maturation of Dekker will keep the Badgers floating.

At first blush he didn't look good defensively, everything else said NBA. We need to keep settling our differences on the court.

It's never bothered me to see a kid cry after a loss.

Hopefully in beer, and not whine.

You all realize those ultra-lucky idiots would have YET AGAIN faced a very low seed had they simply taken care of business? LaSalle pulled off the upset, and the Badgers had another free ride to the Sweet 16 without another major Badger NCAA choke job. Being a Minnesota fan is very tough, but it's days like these that keep me interested lol.

Don't be surprised if Wichita St. knocks off Gonzaga. The Badgers' bracket is chock full of bracket busters almost every year.

Yeah, the draw was there for UW to have a deep tourney run. They just pissed it away AGAIN. They had a tremendous draw in 2011, in their region there wasn't a single team that they would've played had they kept winning that had a single NBA first round pick in 2011 or 2012 and even if #1 seed Pitt had won they didn't have any first round picks on their whole team. Their tourney losses in recent years include several teams without any first rounders (Ole Miss, Butler, Cornell, Xavier, UNLV, etc.).

There's no excuse for Bo's continued failure to lead UW to a F4 in spite of making the tourney every year and having a decent seed and decent draw many times. I think it's time more people criticized Ryan nationally for his failure to lead UW to the F4. They have great facilities and fan support, are within a couple hours' drive from a lot of basketball talent, and have the track record of a successful program in terms of making the tourney and being competitive in the B1G for several years now. Bo deserves criticism for not putting together a roster that makes an F4 run in spite of all the opportunities he's had and all the advantages they have in recruiting. For some reason his players are unprepared to play an up-tempo style when they get into the NCAA tourney. It boggles the mind how he could expect Bruesewitz to guard Henderson.

Yup. Bo is a great big 10 coach. That's about it. Dick Bennet even got them to a final four.

His style, for whatever reason, works in the Big 10 and few other places.

It baffles me that he doesn't get more heat for being awful in the tournament. Maybe Badger fans just accept mediocrity? (Sorry, had to do it)

There is no doubt Bo owns the B1G refs, big time. Perhaps that and that alone could explain their B1G success in spite of their relative failure when they get outside the B1G. Even look at that Virginia game this year at Kohl Center. They got worked over, and the refs did NOT bail them out, leading to a loss many would call a "bad loss". Was it B1G refs covering that game? As far as I know, NO, not in the B1G/ACC Challenge. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Leave it to Wisconsin to get a 12 seed, 13 seed, and 9 seed as a path to the Elite 8. You can also leave it to them to mess it up. Sucks to suck Bucky.

Interesting - Bo won national titles in DIII, so it's not that he can't coach in a championship tournament environment. I think it's a couple things. First, he ran an up-tempo operation at Platteville, and I think that helps when you get into the tourney. You can match styles with anyone and even push slow teams into an uncomfortable pace. Second, they've had a few "early" exits now, so it becomes like Bud Grant having lost three Super Bowls. Once they got to Super Bowl XI, the circumstance had the whammy on them.

Wisconsin is 16-12 in the tourney under Bo Ryan now (9-8 in the past eight seasons). Of the 16 wins, 12 have come against seeds 10 or worse. Tubby Smith now has just as many wins over a higher ranked seed with the Gophers than Bo Ryan does.

I'm not going to make fun of Ryan or Wisconsin for this as I'd love to just be in that position every year. But it is remarkable how the regular season success has not translated over to the tournament.
