B1G Tournament, Game #2: #7 Gophers v. #2 wisconsin [BTN, 5:30PM]

I can't wait until we get some more talent at the wings. We can't score when we have likes of Mav and a cold Malik at the 2 and 3.

For what reason you have misplaced hate for Mav, but reality is that he's taken two shots. Made one and had one blocked. He hasn't turned it over. If you're going to criticize someone right now, it should be Andre and Smith.

Wisconsin's shooting + Refs calling B.S. + us playing like **** = no chance to win.

I want wings that can create, score, do something on offense. Are you saying Mav can do that?

29% FG for the half. Can't beat many teams throwing up crap like that, let alone a quality team like Wis.

Refs aside, Dre Hollins has 0 points. I knew when his first shot went in and out it might not be his night, because he's such a streaky shooter who relies on confidence. If he doesn't pick it up in the 2nd half we'll probably get blown out. We missed a lot of point blank shots in the 1st half, Dre Mathieu was the main culprit and I'm sure we got bumped on a few but I could've predicted before this game started we weren't going to get calls against Wisconsin.

The refs have called TWO calls on Wisconsin through 18 minutes. When the second one was called the whole team in white moaned and groaned. They've gotten away with about 8 or so fouls, most of those pretty obvious. The Gophers aren't getting a ton called against them either, but the disparity is terrible considering the Gophers have been by far the aggressor. Instead, those ****ing refs call phantom fouls on the Gophers when *star* Dekker travels and no one touches him. They also called a hand check against Austin Hollins that didn't even change the ball carriers' direction. Pathetic sons of bitches.

The Gophers have zero chance to win this game if the refs keep this **** up.

And Wiscy will be a #1 or #2 and go out in the 2nd round when they don't get this utter BS officiating in the NCAA's. Like always.

Gophers not losing because of the refs. Wisconsin just a whole lot better.

It's not the reason of course it's not. But, when you are forced to play more passive because of fouls, it definitely effects the outcome.

Another 20...hope we can turn the tables!

This is painful. Andre Hollins has been garbage. I refuse to believe Wisconsin has only fouled twice so far but we're playing so poorly it really doesn't matter.

How do you figure? If the Gophers had gone to the line on say, half of the non-calls that were pretty obvious, they'd have at least 7-8 more points. Dekker would have had a turnover instead of what turned into a Brust 3. Wisconsin might have important players in foul trouble. So, let's say the refs have given Wisconsin an 11-point advantage in the first half, and kept Wisconsin out of any and all foul trouble. You don't think that's important or significant? It's a travesty dude.

2 fouls in twenty minutes. NW got called for 3 in one possession last night. Beyond that, since when is the penalty for an inbounds violation a do over? Pitino should have gone ballistic about that. There is no judgment call their, just a ref making up a rule. All that said, not going to win missing all of those bunnies.

I'm feeling Andre catching fire. If he sees one shot go in, he'll be a different player

Don't know..he's not getting the lift he usually gets on his jumper. That ankle might be bothering him.

Nah, their bracket will fall apart like usual. They'll play nobody in getting to the final 16 or 8, then bow out to something like a 12 seed.

Probably worried that ****ing prick Gasser will undercut him maliciously again.

Wisconsin is a good enough team where it is tough to beat them alone but when they have the 3 refs basically playing for them with the way they've called the game through the 1st half it is very tough. Andre had his first couple shots go in and out and has kinda forced a few things since so it would be big to get him on the board early in the 2nd half. Hopefully Wisconsin goes cold and we can get hot and make a run and find a way to come back and win this thing.

Really bad half of basketball from the Gophers on both ends of the floor. I continue to be amazed that we can't guard Ben Brust. The most baffling part of the game to me today is the guys on the team taking shots they have no business taking: Maverick trying a reverse layup on Hayes, Joey King pump faking at the 3 point line then shooting a running floater in the lane, McNeil taking a terrible contested two point jumper that looked EXACTLY like Chip Armelin, etc, etc.

Game is not over and the Gophers still can avoid a sweat it out Sunday as long as the ball starts going in the basket a bit. I worry about Hollins/Hollins though, we NEED them to be leaders and not shaky in this next 20 minutes and both seem to be shrinking from the moment today.

We've got 22 points at half including 3's from Maverick and Joey King, yet are not down 20. This team has shown the ability to go on runs, lets hope they put one together to start to the half.

has nothing to do with fouls. 6 total fouls called on Gophers and Badgers shot 1 FT in the 1st half.

Gophers poor shooting the issue.

Yeah, no. They are a very talented team that is looking at an Elite 8 appearance at worst. And only losers make excuses and blame the refs when things aren't going their way.

Gophers terrible defense is the main problem. Wide open look. We need more length.

Which team was taking the ball to the rim with consistency? Which is shooting almost all jump shots? Which team has 4 more fouls called against them?

One other thing I've noticed is we've been doubling A LOT, usually in situations where we don't have to. That has been leading to a ton of open looks for Wisconsin.

Agreed. Like I said, only losers make these kinds of laughable excuses.
