The reason Asuma was listed as a "combo G" on Torvik is that the primary PG was Reynolds (who also turned it over way too much, but was much, much better with assists). I think the Gophers should want a better PG than Asuma, period - not that he's all that well-suited to be the 2-guard either, but the primary PG is the most important offensive player in college basketball. Look around.

Correct. The staff saw Reynolds (also a combo guard & even a combo small forward!) as the better lead guard option, but in today's game you need 3 solid ball handling guards.

In theory next season we'll have Asuma, Willis and....? Cedric Tomes? Kai Shinholster? With Willis coming off of injury, Tomes being a smaller, true Freshman & Shinholster not really a ball handler, I wouldn't be shocked to see a portal addition who can handle the ball some.
