I feel like the two options are worded poorly. I want to vote yes but the reason for yes that's given isn't why whereas the no option doesn't have that reason qualifier.

Should have been Missouri and Notre Dame. I get that its a money thing, but greed and chassing after dollars i think dillutes the brand and the rivalries and the stuff that comes with regional games. When the hell am I going to ever run into a rutgers or maryland fan to talk sh!t living in the mid west? I think the move makes the most sense for M and R, and only time will tell if this is the right move by B1G

This is one more step that will cause me to give up my Gopher season tickets and find another way to spend my time and money. I was always attracted to Big 10 football because of its long standing traditions and the high quality and academic integrity of the schools in the conference. It is becoming increasingly clear that tradition and academic integrity are going to be the first things to go in the college football money grab.

Degradation of the college football fan experience due to money grubbing has made watching it on TV more appealing each year.

I like it only for the reason that we now have Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Iowa all in the same division as us. Other than that, no.

I'm one of the few that voted "Yes". Here's why:

1) My wife and I travel to an away game almost every year. The east coast is a great destination for both of us.
2) Getting an eastern influence in the B1G makes an for entirely different fan experience. I enjoy seeing fans from all over the country and seeing potential rivalries. For example: With the addition of Nebraska, we are suddenly on their radar. Great group of people - awesome addition. You never know what we'll get with Rutgers and Maryland.
3) Both Rutgers and Maryland have had their times in the national rankings. It's a different type of football that may be a lot of fun to watch.
4) Both Universities are academically respected for areas of teaching and research.

I'm excited our half the division got so much easier to win. I could care less about those two teams though...

No. If they had to expand, I would have much preferred Kansas and Missouri. Or even Pitt.

Yep. Missouri was the one they shouldn't have let get away. Missouri was begging to be in the Big Ten. Notre Dame was the other school, but at least we tried to get Notre Dame. Nebraska belongs geographically and athletically, but it has no business being in the league academically.

I would have been fine with adding one East coast team and Missouri. I can live with it, and if it was required to get the divisions straightened out, then fine.

Dumping Maryland and Rutgers would be great news. How soon can this happen?

I would like to add Notre Dame and Iowa State and dump Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland. I just hate those additions purely on geography. The Big Ten has always been a midwest brand and i don't think that should ever change plus more than 12 is just way too much in my book. I might even take Cincinnati over RU or Maryland.

The 7 teams in the West should break off and align with ISU, KU and KSU to form the new Big 10.

Let's put it this way: Neither one of them makes me wet. I voted NO!!!

I voted Aye.

Better footprint as a school and conference.

I liked adding Nebraska and Penn State, my concern with adding these two new teams would be the game we don't get to play might be better than the game we do play.

Super excited about bringing Division I Lacrosse to TCF stadium in the spring with teams like Maryland, Rutgers, and Johns Hopkins, oh wait, we still have a club team for lacrosse. Nevermind.

Probably about the same time the rest of the Conference decides to dump my Golden Gophers and Indiana. Wow, some of you people are absolutely stuck WAY back early in the last century...like way back when Michigan and Ohio and Chicago were some really kick-a$$ economies and were magnets for population growth. Back then, my Golden Gophers were competitive with other college teams any where.

Well, people: here is a fact of life for all of you who think the conference formerly known as the Big Ten was the end-all and be-all of college football. That was long before Detroit was bankrupt, crumbling, falling apart and all that jazz. Chicago is still a big city, but, they aren't quite as toddling a town as they once were celebrated to be. Oh, THE Ohio State is hanging in there pretty well. But, they are just off NCAA sanctions and punishments.

Get over it people. Things are NOT going back the way you once thought they were. At least Nebraska still sells out. The economy there is pretty decent, compared to some other places in the original Big Ten fly-over towns, cities and bergs.

The greater D.C. Area and New Jersey as close to New York will provide some GREAT destinations.

And, since EVERY other major conference has been adding new geographical areas, IF the former Big Ten didn't do something, some of you same people would be whimpering and crying because the Conference is being left behind.

Back in the early 1950's some people probably thought it was a HUGE mistake to add Michigan State to the pristine Big Ten Conference. I guess with the passage of time that worked out pretty well.

But, people: this is the year 2014. Things have changed and things will continue to change. Don't be such complainers and whiners. And who the heck do you think we are in Minnesota with the last half century we have had? Maybe too many around here are trying to act too pious, pompous and elite. Take a good honest look at our record against our border battle states during the past quarter of a century. How would some of you people feel if jerks in iowa or wisky started calling for my Golden Gophers...your Golden Gophers to be kicked out of the conference because we just haven't been competitive with them in our border battle games?

Sometimes, it is just UNBELIEVABLE to read how out of touch with the reality of the present some people are here.

In the year 2014, change is going to happen...needs to happen and will continue to happen. Stand back...stand by...get behind that change or it is going to run you over, flatten you out and leave you in the dust.

Welcome Maryland and Rutgers!

And the money doesn't hurt a damn bit either! How do you naysayers propose to pay for the athletic competitions that are held between ALL the teams in this brave new conference of which my Golden Gophers...your Golden Gophers have a membership without all these new cable revenues? And, IF they kick the new members out, will it be very long before they kick the University of Minnesota out? We may not be as "m%cking f%ch" as some seem to think around here. Have a little bit of humility and we will have to see how we compete against these new schools in football...in hoops...in all the sports that everyone fields a program in.

By the time Jim Delany's grandson is commissioner, the Big Ten will consist of OSU, Michigan and a bunch of schools on the east coast.

Most other people on this board making comments about this topic are really out to lunch on this subject...and often times many other topics. Some times I am "all" you've got on this board who makes a statement that is based in good, common sense and the reality of the situation. Why should I be any kinder to you than you ever are to me rescooter? Scram...scoot out of here and don't try to pull a kill joy and make a meaningless little comment about so damn many of my posts. The world is a better place when you are neither seen or heard commenting on one of my posts, rescooter. I don't appreciate any of your "left-handed, uninspiring little quips following one of my posts. You are no one to me and I much prefer to keep it that way. Now, please, just move on along...

If it's pious and elite to want to see your Golden Gophers actually play teams from their conference, sign me up. Want to see the Gophers in Indiana? Well, hope you were there last year. The Gophers don't play there until 2020 or later. IU still hasn't set foot in the Bank since it opened. Familiarity breeds contempt. It's a lot easier to dislike an opponent if you see them more than once or twice per decade.
