ANNUAL GOPHERHOLE PICTORIAL COUNTDOWN TO GOPHERS SEASON OPENER!!

Marcus did well for the Gophers and the Vikings earning a nice check on special teams.

As to Mo. He truly was a Gopher, embracing the culture and learning much under Fleck.

24!

Last year's victory over USC was quite memorable. 24-17

Rickey Foggie is 8th in Gophers history with 24 rushing touchdowns.
Adam Weber had 24 passing touchdowns in the ill-fated 2007 season.
Gophers defeated Virginia Tech 24-10 in the most recent Mayo Bowl.
Gophers beat #24 Illinois 25-17 last season
Gophers did lose 24-27 in last season's stolen game vs Meatchicken

22!
The 2011 22-21 win over Iowa was memorable. For me, I was not yet tailgating so my wife was going to about half the games in those days and I ended up with three extra tickets that day. Long story short, but I ended up bringing 3 German exchange students to their first college football game. It was really fun to see it through their eyes. They were filming everything with their phones (including the pregame plaza marching band performance, where I got us right up front and center). They really seemed to have a good time and were pretty enthusiastic about the whole thing. It didn't hurt that the game was exciting and ended with an unexpected upset victory.

Also, who could forget:
  • October 27, 1906, vs. Iowa State: The Gophers won 22-4 against the Iowa State Cyclones.

Never forget, or get to know, Doug Beaudoin, #22, tough hard- nosed Gopher db in the mid 70s who played professionally for 10 years. From Dickenson, North Dakota.

21!

Exactly 3 weeks from today... the fur flies!

If there was one play that lifted me off my seat more than any other last season, it was the 21 yard touchdown off a flea flicker reverse from Brosmer to Geers. The Gophers served notice that they came to play that day against highly ranked Penn State. That game along with a couple others could easily have gone the other way and the difference between an 8-5 season and an 11-2 type year proved to be just a narrow hair.

If you watch this game in a vacuum, you'd assume the Gophers, Penn State, Boise State, and Notre Dame were all pretty good and if there is one team that doesn't belong in that conversation, it is probably Boise State.

Let's hope the bounces go the way of 2019 this season.
