Deserves his own thread IMHO. He's bringing a lot of energy to the court the past couple games and is looking like a guy who can help off the bench next year. Those two charges he took (the first one a bad call...just like the one that went against Eliason in the first half) were huge and came at a time where the Gophers couldn't do anything right. In the first half, he put in a couple buckets and was a big reason we got some easy looks in transition. I'd be fine if he extends his consecutive games with a missed dunk streak to 3, as long as he gives us the same performance he's given the past two games.

Ingram is a hustler on the court, and that's what we need.

Totally agree. No player is benefiting from the NIT run more than he is. He has found a role, he plays very hard and he is physical.

We don't win tonight without Ingram.

Go Gophers!!

man needs to stop missing dunks though! but other than that I think he has really played his heart out and given great energy.

Agreed. Loved Ingram lately. It seems he has shaken whatever lingering injuries he had.

Definitely needs to get quicker feet, but for a scrapper, I like what he has after not seeing him all season.

You know what I was thinking while watching him tonight?

"Boy, I hope he doesn't have to give up his scolly next year."

As can be expected with his limited minutes over his first B1G season, he was a step slow on defense a few times tonight. But he definitely seems to have a pretty good idea of what he's doing out there. I love the energy he brings, and I really like the work he does around the rim, all things considered. I just hope he can get a little more air under those alley oop passes!

My question is: Does the man have any sort of jump shot? Several times he was left alone up at the top of the key (smart move IMO) but if he could take a dribble in and hit that shot (like ralph would do, rarely), it would open up for more back cuts for the guards.

My guess is NCAA gives us a spot for Trevor and Buggs or Ellenson have to redshirt. Chip transfers voluntarily for Lockett (maybe?)

I don't know which is the biggest factor with Ingram, but a few possibilities:

1) Health. He had hip surgery this past summer and has knee issues.
2) Court time. We mostly saw him for a couple minutes here, couple minutes there. With extended minutes he's should be feeling more comfortable on the floor and more confident to expand his game.
3) Familiarity with this level. First year of D-1 basketball.

Whatever the case, I think you've gotta respect a kid that seems to always work hard and is willing to do whatever the team asks of him. Not a lot of glory in some of the things the team needs him to do (block out, defend inside, be physical, take charges), but he's had some nice contributions.

Forgive me for needing clarification as I think this has already been discussed in other threads, but even if Buggs and/or Ellenson are redshirted, don't they still count as scholarship athletes within their redshirted season?

...Or are you saying that the NCAA may give us a spot for Trevor if Ellenson and/or Buggs are redshirted?

Yes. A scholarship is a scholarship. Redshirting isn't something that is done, it simply means you don't give the person any playing time.

Yes they do, not sure why he said they HAVE to redshirt unless he means they won't get playing time?

Tubby is going to request a waiver to allow us to have 14 scholarship players. Ellenson and Buggs will probably redshirt because they won't get any playing time.

Only thing I don't like about Ellenson and Buggs redshirting is no recruting class for a year.

Maybe could be a condition if we are given an extra scholarship? It makes sense, so we wouldn't have one more active scholarship player than everyone else.

So lets waste a year of their eligibility?
Oh no, I'm not trying to say that. I just don't like having a year with no recruiting class. I shall hope one of them surprises and can contribute.

Ingram has earned his schollie & Tubby went from zero to hero in 4 games. His performance gives us hope that he can contribute some energy & scrappy play off the bench next year & be a viable option if Trevor or Rodney go down.

Kid has totally shocked me from his limited action earlier in the year. Love it! It always encourages me to see young men persevere through tough times and do well. The kid is truly earning his scholly in the post-season. Can't see Tubby taking it from him. Tubby is very loyal to kids who work hard and sell out for the team.

Where did that hook shot from Ingram in the first half come from? Didn't know he had that kind of move in his game. Was a better hook than Ralphs.

Totally agree with this post. Even after TM went down, Ingram saw very limited minutes. Hard to stay focused when you sit on the bench game-after-game. Tubby deserves credit too, for keeping him interested and willing to work.

Safe to say that the first half was probably the most productive of his college career. He did a little bit of everything and was a big part of the 1st half dominance. His hustle was contagious.

Great to see. This NIT run would not be possible without his play.

Are you saying you don't like the thought of no freshman playing next year or are you implying we wouldn't recruit anyone in 2013 if those two redshirt? Wasn't quite sure what you meant by this.

What he means is that, if both of these guys redshirt, there will be no one graduating in 2016 and thus no scholarships available to tender that spring. While a good point to raise, the concern is unfounded because it is a virtual certainty that there will be early departures of one persuasion or another well before then.

Exactly. There was someone who posted a prior example where this was the case. The NCAA wouldn't allow us to have 14 "active" players, but they may allow 14 scholarships.

Thanks. Didn't know he was thinking that far ahead. Agreed that there will likely be a departure of some sort by then. Hopefully someone who plays well enough to warrant an early entry into the NBA draft rather than a transfer.

Andre has come a long way since getting some playing time. I didn't see it coming, but he has been a nice surprise.

Yeah, great game for Andre, 25 minutes. Really played a huge role. 4-6, with one being a missed dunk. He and EE were on the court together a few minutes while Rodney sat, but for the most part, 13 rebounds out of the center spot.

Who do you think misses a higher percentage of their dunks....Ingram or Paul Carter?

That said, Andre played great and we wouldn't be in MSG playing for the NIT Championship without him.
