Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Why leave? Buzz Williams has it pretty good around here
At the moment there are no jobs that would rise to the level of the head-coaching position at Marquette. UCLA hired Steve Alford on Saturday. The Minnesota job offers an antiquated arena that hurts recruiting, no practice facility and less money than Williams makes at Marquette.
If Williams decided to take a job such as Minnesota's, it would be for reasons beyond the level of fiscal commitment he gets at Marquette.

Go Gophers!!
More ground-breaking journalism from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "If he leaves, it won't be because of the money"? Shocking revelation.
It's very difficult for some people who have not been in situations of being able to select where they work to understand what goes into those decisions. Unless the money is MARKEDLY different, it's rarely about money. Some managers/CEO's are better than others, some organizations are culturally just better than others, some cities are better, etc, etc, etc... TV deals, conference affiliation, you name it. The list goes on and on.
The bottom line is, forget about program history for the most part; for better or worse, Norwood Teague makes this gig considerably different than it was when Maturi was running the show, and similarly, this a different job with Kaler as Prez than it was previously.
One way or another, this hire should and likely WILL say a lot about not just how Teague is perceived and how effective he is, but also just how the school is perceived as well. It will say a lot, no doubt about it.
