I was very impressed with his performance in the UnderArmour. He has a nice combination of quickness, power, vision, and elusiveness. He also looked good catching balls out of the backfield. I think he would fit perfectly into Kill's offense. He could be the face of the program and I REALLY hope he stays in MN.
He
Give me a break. That's fine if you don't agree with him. What is wrong with being positive and excited about a player? He made a comment that he sees a Heisman in the future. So what?
I just don't understand people who get so bent out of shape when someone dares to be excited and dream big.
All Jeff would need to do to get a few votes in the heisman would be to rush for at least 1700 yards and have at least a 10 win team, both are very realistic, even somehwat expected, it is delusional if you think he will win it but it is very realistic to expect him to be somewhat in the converasation, i mean Cobb ran for 1200 without being the starter for the first few games, he could have ran for about 1500 if he was the clear cut #1from day 1 and Jeff will have a much better O-line then David had this year and he should get more carries since there will be a much bigger drop off in talent at the position with jeff to Berkley then Cobb to Donnel, and for wins i think we win 9 or 10 next year and 10 or 11 in 2 years
Our offense fits Jones well. Kill and staff are still building the line and pieces to for titles but progress has clearly been made. If we take a step back for a minute and look at what Cobb was able to produce this season (1200 yards rushing) without becoming a full time starter until about the midpoint of the season and with only one senior on the OL (and he was injured half the year) a player like JJ, who has more natural talent and athleticism, should be licking his chops at the opportunity.
Florida has a big name but there is a reason they're switching coordinators and OL coach. Their HC is a defensive guy and doesn't have the set philosophy on offense. Muschamp came in to Florida at the same time Kill and staff came to Minnesota. He wants to run the football but he hasn't proven he knows how to build the staff and that is why he is starting over rather than making clear progress.
Michigan is in much the same position. Hoke is a D-line guy. He has an aging coordinator that he has worked with and had success with in the past but they're struggling to build the pro-style offense. I mean they had negative rushing yards in back-to-back games this year and one of those was against a Nebraska team that we gashed for 271 rushing yards against. I don't care how good the running back is he needs an OL to open holes and showcase his skill. Michigan does not have that and given that Hoke & staff have been there as long as Kill & staff there is no indication that situation is getting better or that there is the same commitment to running the football.
Offensive philosophy and building block-wise, Minnesota is actually the most stable situation and is making the most progress to take the next step. It is odd to say but Minnesota actually has more coaching stability and is doing the better job of building what would make Jones a stud back.
Not to mention, local pressure would have Muschamp playing his local 5* running back instead of a recruit he pulls out of Minnesota because he has to go back to those high schools and talk to those coaches for their future recruits. Local pressure in Michigan would be to play their 5* #1 in the country RB that he brought in this year. Local pressure in Minnesota would actually work in JJs favor because people want to see their local recruits do well.
Just my two cents on the situation.
So, if you're really Jeff Jones, and you say you'll take my bet of $500.00, then tell me this. Why did you state a few posts further down that we're in your "top 3"? If you're willing to bet $500.00, that must mean you're coming to Minnesota. Yet, you claim that you've only narrowed it down to 3. Which one is it? Enough with all the games and getting people to beg you to come here. Be a man and tell the University of Minnesota that you're coming to Minnesota if that's your selection.

FYI, we deleted a number of recent posts in this thread that included some bickering back and forth. Please keep this thread on topic, and in good taste. As we're reminded today, many recruits read and post in these threads. Please keep that in mind.
If we want to eventually become big ten title contenders we're going to have to beat out the helmet schools for recruits every once in a while. The Eric Murray's of the world are great and you can field a competitive team with low-rated recruiting classes as long as you develop players and they fit your system, but to take that next step you need to supplement these classes with a few impact guys with elite talent. There's no better time than now to keep players like Ragnow and Jones home. It's time for the coaching staff to put up or shut up and flex their recruiting muscles.
While the Florida and Michigan offers are worrisome, neither one of these teams have developed a relationship with Jones or his family for a few years like the Gophers staff. I'm confident these teams are too late. Not to mention, both teams had disappointing seasons leading to both coaches being on the hot seat (Muschamp moreso than Hoke), and both have highly rated freshman RB's almost guaranteed to get carries next year. Jones wanted more exposure and wanted to take a few visits, he has the opportunity now. In the end, I still think he ends up a Gopher and realizes the advantages to staying home and playing for the U are too good to pass up.
And for the record, I'm sick of the Minnesota sports fan defeatist attitude already showing up on message boards and twitter. The fans are part of the problem as to why talented in-state players go elsewhere if better offers are on the table.[/QUOTE]
I agree.
