All Things Quinn Carroll Recruiting Thread

Recruiting good OT & OG to MN is hard enough. Local media does not help.

What is it that we have a hard time getting out of state OL guys?

16 OL on the roster. 8 from out of state.

I'd say those are two of the easiest positions for the gophers to recruit.

Andries, Schlueter, Moore, Oseland, Mayes, Pirsig, Hayes Gjerre etc. all were somewhat highly rated or had a pretty good offer list. We could have had Sean Foster too if we wanted him.

O-line is the state's #1 position that it produces.

As in numbers? Sure. How many of this state's OL have gone on to become great college players and play in the NFL? Very few. Minnesota has produced better WR's and TE's than it has OL.

What will keep Carroll here? Fleck? close to home? Seeing Warriners effect on the O-line?

Ultimately, it is lots of Gopher Pride & Love!

Being close to family & friends ((girlfriend(s) included)) where they can go see him play. Pride in being part of the rise of the football program to new heights.

He can be drafted into the NFL from any D1 college. Warinner is a great coach and teacher.

The same thing goes out to Bryce Benhart. These recruits have a chance to make a huge impact on the State and can still make it into the NFL. Nothing is guaranteed regardless of where they go to college. They still have to put in all the hard work. They've got everything that they need here to accomplish their goals.

If Hank Bachmeier truly wants to be a part of the rise of the program, I can see Minnesota for the first time having a superb class of recruits if both Carroll and Benhart elect to stay and be a part of something great about to happen here.

The right set of coaches IMHO are in position. The difference maker are the athletes. If the Gophers can out recruit the programs above them in the B1G West, they can get out of the forever fifth place perch in the B1G West.

We have lots to be excited about in the next four years.

It seems that there are a pretty high percentage of OL that never complete their college careers due to injury. I would think that means there must be more recruited and the the younger guys have to be ready sooner. The trenches are a rough place to play.

Because the Gophers are only recruiting one player in the class of 2019. There are no other players in Minnesota, right Collin?

We're well into fall... anyone have any word on his hoodie status? Minnesota? Other teams?

The hoodies are good indicators.

That's kinda close to a recruiting violation or am I wrong?

Not sure how a tweet from a recruits family member would constitute a violation. Fleck never mentioned anyone specific.

Fleck is smart. He’ll push recruiting boundaries. I like that though.

Indications are he will commit to Gap University.

Man that's tough. Or maybe it isn't ... I wouldn't know.

To be a young man, that everyone wants. He can go literally anywhere. Any state he wants (well, except Vermont and Alaska). Or he could stay home. All kinds of pressure to do this and that.

Rivals updated its 2019 rankings, it has Carroll as the 10th best player at his position and #30 overall. If that #30 sticks, is he the highest rated in-state recruit since Joe Mauer?

“Carroll has that long, lean athleticism coaches look for, but do not often find, at the offensive tackle position. Junior film shows that the Minnesotan also possesses a healthy level of intensity to pair with his athletic gifts. Notre Dame was his childhood favorite and could be the team to beat here, but he has visited schools from coast to coast, including Virginia Tech, where his brother played.” – Josh Helmholdt, Rivals.com Midwest Recruiting Analyst
