Teams are as good as the talent they have. A new coach often has to sell the future of the program before he has much in results to sell talent. I think Pitino has done a ton of work this offseason but in reality he doesnt get a pass in his first recruiting class. He has to bring in some talent and I am by no means expecting a full class of 4* or 5* kids but we shouldnt spend to much time praising him in getting on short lists for recruits. Lets salute the guy when he starts bringing in commits so we know what kids really think. He has to sell what he wants to do and what he wants to develope the program into. If he brings in a strong recruiting class in year one its going to jump start this program and his career quicker than anyone might expect.
I hate the idea of celebrating close losses as if that is an accomplishment.
