All Things Prince Aligbe Recruitment Thread (Class of 2022)

That's a silly take my man.

First, most of those Minnehaha kids have been at that school for years, well before they were high level prospects. 2nd, those kids could transfer to another school (De, CDH, etc) or their local public school. It's easy to knock private schools but those kids are also held to high standards academically.

Also the 'move up' crowd is on some nonsense. Just because you're more talented than the competition doesn't mean you back away to make it easier for them. On top of that talent is cyclical. Nobody cared when Minnehaha was getting killed my entire youth, but now all the sudden because they've been good for a few years they should move up? Please. Then if they're average for a few years and move back down then the narrative will be that they couldn't compete with the big boys and need to beat up on the little guys. Let those boys ball without the hating.

St. Thomas Academy did it in hockey and is doing just fine. TG in football and they are doing just fine. De La Salle and Minnehaha can move up. They can move back down later if need be.

per Stock Risers:

Jake: “Discuss how your recruitment has gone so far.”

Prince: “My recruitment is going really well right now. I have seven offers, they’re from Western Kentucky, Illinois, Florida, Maryland, Iowa, Minnesota, and Vanderbilt. I have also received interest from Purdue, Villanova, Memphis, Nevada, Nebraska, Tulane, Texas, and LSU.”

Jake: “If someone we’re to ask, who’s Prince Aligbe on the court? — how would you describe your game?”

Prince: “I’ll definitely describe my game as a two-way game. I play offense and defense really well. Many people love to talk about my athletic ability which is one of my better areas and my passing skill. Being able to setup up my teammates for open shots, dunks, layups, etc. Things I definitely need to improve on is my half court setting on the offense side, playing with or without the ball. Finally, it would be to improve my motor and try to make it as high as it can be.”

Jake: “What goals have you set for yourself?”

Prince: “My goal is definitely just to be the best player and person I can be, on and off the court. Playing in the NBA is definitely a dream that I have and that many others do also but also being able to know I have chances to go to college for free is a blessing. It’s just up to me to make the best out of it.”

Jake: “Growing up, did you have any dream schools?”

Prince: “My dream schools recently for the past couple years have been Villanova, UNC, and Tennessee because they are all schools that have a family atmosphere, and really mature players. But when the time comes for me to make a decision, it will definitely be a school that’s fits me and my goals.”

College basketball and football coaches don't need directions on how to get to Minnehaha Academy. The high school has multiple upper-level college recruits in both sports.

KSTP Sports' Darren Wolfson caught up with four of the players: juniors Jalen Suggs and Kaden Johnson, sophomore Chet Holmgren, and freshman Prince Aligbe.

Suggs has many football and basketball offers. He was recently invited to the pretigious NBA Players Association camp, and will once again play for Team USA this summer. Suggs has taken one official basketball recruiting trip and that was to see Gonzaga. The Gophers, among many programs, are recruiting him heavily.

Johnson is the state's top-ranked football recruit in the 2020 Class. Able to play linebacker and tight end, he holds many offers, including from the Gophers. Johnson told us that he'll spend time with Gophers coach P.J. Fleck on Monday.

Holmgren is one of the top basketball players in the country in the 2021 Class. Nearly 7-feet tall, Holmgren has guard skills. The Gophers and many others have offered him. Holmgren's dad, Dave, played for the Gophers.

Aligbe was recently offered by the Gophers, Missouri, and others. Like Holmgren and Suggs are in their respective classes, Aligbe is one of the top players in the country in the 2022 Class.

Interesting quote at 3:25, ". . .take the pigskin out one last year." I wonder if that means he is not planning on playing football in college?
