I haven’t heard any person whose seen both Winter and Betts that doesn’t say Betts is currently better and has a higher ceiling

Ummm...this post has nothing to do with the comment you quoted. (or the conversation since bonin was lamenting the loss of NW)

bonin is a well known Eeyore that has been suspended from other sites and is a running joke amongst groups of fans. He never has anything good to say and tends to disappear when things are going well. He is not worth even responding too.
 

Can we put this thread to bed? It's technically not over until signing day but it's time to move on. Let's focus our collective energy on willing Evans to commit next weekend!

Trevor Winter was an NBA player??

Oh yeah...the Wolves put him in for 5 minutes and 5 fouls. What a career.

Being on our Final Four team doesn't mean he was good. We used to hold our breath and just hope for no major screwups when Winter came in to give our starters a breather.

Did you really not know? Like did you start responding to me, write one sentence, google his career and then answer your own question? Or did you just decide to respond like a sarcastic 14 year old girl?

Again, go and check the number of Gopher players who have ever collected an NBA check and now divide that number of players from the number of people to ever be on scholarship for Gopher basketball team.

If you had any sort of self awareness, you'd come to the realization that he had a pretty good career.

You were being misleading. Trying to make it seem like Trevor Winter was a good player.
 

I didn’t revisit this thread to read any more about Winter. Just to share my opinion: He chose our rival. I will hate on him 2 weeks out of the year and won’t think about him at all aside from that. The only reason I’ll think of him at all is we’ll cross paths with his team in the conference. I don’t think about MN kids that go elsewhere. I don’t care about the teams they went to.
That is all.

You really think that I thought Trevor Winter had a long NBA career? Really? I said he was a member of the Final Four team and he played in the NBA. You're the only person in this thread pretending to learn new things about Trevor Winter, that's your schtick, not mine. I assumed all of us knew he had a cup of coffee in the NBA. The ENTIRE point was that even a player who had a mere cup of coffee in the NBA had a pretty good career compared to most Gopher basketball players.

If you really believe I was trying to make it sound like Trevor Winter had a long career in the NBA, you're dumber than you are annoying, and you're super annoying.

But whether it is a loss on the court - that we just don't know.

Now, if Winter lights it up for WI, while Betts struggles for MN, then you could objectively say it was a loss.

But, if the opposite is true - Winter struggles at WI while Betts shines for MN, then there is no way it can be a 'loss' in terms of the on-the-court results.

I feel empathy for coaches like Ben Johnson. Their jobs depend on the whims and decisions made by 17-year-old kids. that can't be easy to deal with.

Now, the Gophers just need to get their NIL rolling so they can buy more players.............

From this it doesn't seem like the BIG 10 anywhere is doing all that great with NIL money or am I missing something.

You were being misleading. I wasn't. You were.

You keep characterizing Trevor Winter as a Final Four and NBA player.

I characterize him with the true picture. He was a weak backup college player. Not good. But because he's 7-feet & local, the T-Wolves signed him to a few 10-day contracts or something...never a year contract.

He played a grand total of 1 game, 5 minutes...and 5 fouls.
 


Didn't surprise me that Winter choose Wisconsin. For some reason I never had a good feeling about him committing to us. Lakeville hasn't been too kind to us.

I know nothing of his father except that he was a good basketball player and yes made it to the NBA. If you play even for a short time, you have to be pretty good in my opinion. There are only so many spots available, and he got one of them even if it was for a short period of time.

Trevor Winter was a running-joke during our Final Four season. I remember the looks on my friends' kissers when Winter had to enter the games. Good times.

I was misleading you because I said he played on an NCAA team and collected an NBA pay check. I really thought you were being intentionally obtuse, so I guess I'll break it down for you . . .one . . . more . . . time.

My whole point was that even a player who only had a cup of coffee in the NBA accomplished more in professional basketball than the VAST MAJORITY of Gopher scholarship basketball players.

You're obviously easily confused, so I can see why most things seem misleading to you. However, I wasn't being misleading. I am talking on a Gopher basketball message board thread about Trevor Winter. Everyone on this board understands who Trevor Winter is. It might be the ONLY population on the entire planet that could give a break down of Trevor Winter's career. It'd be kind of an odd place to try to mislead people about Trevor f'n Winter. There is absolutely NO disagreement on the facts when it comes to him.

FFS people, Trevor was an important part of our FF run. Was he Bobby, Sam, Q, JT or Courtney, no, but he was dependable and important role player.

Other than that, I’m moving on and hoping we turn our program around with guys who want to be here.

I think we've cleared it up by now lol.

He was a local 7-footer...so the Wolves signed him to a 10-day contract to go in and Hack-a-Shaq. They told him he'd be fined for every foul not made.

Total career: 5 minutes, 5 fouls.
