All Things Minnesota Timberwolves 2022-2023 In-Season Thread

Yep. Vast majority of people were screaming "Wolves need "defense and rebounding, rebounding rebounding!"

Gobert usually gets the later done, not so much the former.

What they really needed then and REALLY need now is shooting, shooting, shooting! That and much better ball handlers. When they have a good shooting night and limit turnovers they've won. Kinda explains the record.

Only question really is how they'll do when Towns, Gobert, Russell, Anderson,Prince and McLaughlin are all able to play together.

Though not sure if that'll ever happen.

Haven't we already seen this until KAT got hurt, give or take? We were healthy the first 20 or so games.

Gobert had only one practice with the team before the season started. Didn't play until the 3rd game in. Factor that in with damn near a new roster and that first month was almost a training camp. One that counted.

Looking at the records and standing this year there are a whole lot of teams that are suffering from injuries and roster turnover.

That said yep, they were 10-11 when Towns went down with the present injury. Prince, their best defender, went down 4 days before that and they lost all three of those games.

The cliche is true, injuries are part of the game but in a team game teams need to play together for awhile before you really know how good or bad they are.

Good thing the nba doesn’t care about concussions or head injuries or they would have had to call a foul on Williamson there.

And once again twolves struggle to rebound giving up 9 offensive rebounds tonight.

DLo not exactly playing well down the stretch with the defensive 3 second call and the tech.

My favorite was Rivers going over the screen, was a foot away from McCollum, and gets called when McCollum throws his right foot out. What a joke of a call. And that was after a review.

Offensive rebounds were Minnesota 5 to NO 6 until well into the 4th Quarter. The foul trouble that Gobert and McDaniels were in took a toll on their rebounding and interior defense didn't it? Russell overall had a good game.

They need McLaughlin back and soon.

Watched Williamson play a few times. He's a Laker at heart. In his mind he never commits a foul.

Problem is the refs seemed afraid, or under orders, not to call legit fouls on him.

Currently 11th in the West. Sure glad the season doesn't end today.

Oh yeah. Pelicans (22-12) beat the Wolves (16-19) 119 to 118.

Edwards missed a shot with 1 second left in the game that would have won it for the Wolves. As was alluded to above there were some very questionable calls and non-calls late in that game.

Choked that one away.
Gonna be rough when they lose a top ten pick in the draft.

Not gonna expect any Timberwolves victories until Towns & Prince are back. They need Anderson and/or McLaughlin too.

Throw-in getting a fair shake from the refs and yeah, their season may be over already. We may not see what they are really capable of until February.

Too bad Garnett didn't get his wish and got to head a group to buy them.

The Seattle Timberwolves kinda has a nice ring to it...

Nice 1st half for the Timerwolves. Up 11 on the Bucks.

Rebounding is an issue. I am starting to think the trade for Gobert might now work out in the wolves favor.

at home to the flipping 9-29, Pistons!

Seriously, you flipping losers!

LMAO

Outscored 66-40 in the second half by a 9 win team. That can’t be good.

Man if Lore and Aroid back out of the purchase they really screwed Taylor. I can’t imagine that Taylor thought it was a good idea to trade for Gobert like 8 days after hiring a new GM.

If I’m Chris Finch i want to get fired. Bleep these morons and the morons who that this roster construction was a good idea. Give me my money and let me go. That extension in April looks kind silly now.

He's not off the hook. They risked everything, largely based on the rebounding/interior defense issues that hurt them in the playoffs vs. Memphis. Had Finch's team not blown leads in all those playoff games, they probably don't make that move.

Rebounding is 75% effort. They had a chance last night at the end where all they needed was a board. DLo watched a shot go up and made no effort to block out his guy and the bucks got the board. It should not be up to the head coach to get veteran players to make an effort to rebound.

Dlo might be their biggest problem. He's in no way a point guard.
