You cant actually report because its technically heresay. Plus he hasn't chosen yet. That would be slanderous and the hurts could sue.

Honestly I dont care that he leaves and goes to KS because of the Adidas thing. It's his choice. I just wish he would decide and move on.

Why would a kid with Lottery-type potential, coming from a solid family, mess with corruption over a $50k-$150k? If he takes care of business on the court, that money will be laughable in less than two years!

I would guess that if he goes to KU it will have nothing to do with some rumor over 50-150 grand and everything to do with coaching, tradition and a very high cool factor. For a high school basketball player KU ranks way up there as far as a dream place to go. These kids all travel so much and have mostly discarded any provincial bias.
 

I can't imagine that with the KU investigation happening, that he'd go there. That'd be the worst pick for him. It doesn't matter whether his family is actually getting a kickback or such, if he goes to KU (or any Adidas school) that rumor will follow him wherever he goes. It'd kill any potential future product endorsement deals for him - especially an Adidas shoe deal. With a name like "Hurt", there's a lot of nice slogans that could be used for product promotion, that'd be all gone if rumors tie him to shady cash.

Oh yeah...look at all of the current NBA players struggling because they allegedly got kickbacks from shoe companies or went to one of those schools.

The FBI has been investigating corruption in college basketball, and Kansas reportedly has released two subpoenas showing the bureau requested information about the program.

Former Gopher Richard Coffey saw his son Amir go through the recruiting process a few years ago before choosing Minnesota. Sports Headliners asked him about programs that might be under scrutiny as Kansas apparently is. “I think you would have to avoid those schools,” Richard said. “You never know how things are going to go and a school could get penalized (including no postseason play).”

Completely agree! My point was that he wouldn't be choosing a school because of a little kickback from Adidas. That kickback will be peanuts if he becomes a lottery pick in the near future. Plus he's coming from a solid family that would not jeopardize any eligibility for a little cash. Why this keeps getting thrown out there is ridiculous.

Hurt is going to go where he likes the coaches, likes his chances of putting him in the best situation for the NBA, and puts him in a place to compete for a National Title in his first or second season. Not because of an Adidas kickback...if anything, he may avoid an Adidas school if things progress as they appear.
 

Hurt should make the NBA once he does he can fund his own AAU program like Tyus. Hurt could sign with Puma. Who the hell knows? Kids would rather wear Nike anyway over Addidas! Lol.
 



The NBA couldn't care less about college players getting paid. Ayton was wrapped up in the whole Arizona thing (not sure if it was true or not, but there was some smoke) and he went #1 overall.

A: It’s all about making the best decision for him. He has to understand who he’s going to play with and what the playing style is. He has to understand how the coaches are planning on using him and how he fits into their system. I think when it comes down to him making a decision; it’s got to come down to he has aspirations to play in the NBA. He’s got to understand that where he’s going to be able to be in the best position for that. Sometimes when you go to a big school, you might not get all your talents out there as much, just because you’re on a bigger team. Versus if you go to a smaller school maybe you do, but you don’t have as much exposure. So it’s all about making it balanced. He’ll make a good decision when he’s ready.

The NBA doesn't care too much, but the marketing departments of apparel/shoe companies do care. If you're a superstar, those apparel contracts can be worth much more than your NBA salary. In Ayton's case, he ended up having to sign with Puma and Nike and Adidas had little interest in having him be a spokesperson for their products. Hurt potentially could land a nice shoe deal, and that deal will be better if there's no scandal linked to him. Stay away from KU Matthew...

Sorry, I can't see it. My money is on Kansas or Duke, maybe Kentucky. Pitino has to start putting players in the NBA before these elite players start coming to Minnesota. Penny is in a similar place, he has no track record.

Ayton signed with Puma because they offered him the most money. So did Marvin Bagley III.

But neither of their fathers had a financial stake in an AAU club that was funded by Puma or any other shoe company. The Hurts do. That's the difference here.
 


So Hurt makes the NBA and Skechers offers more money and he signs with Skechers does Addidas pull Mr. Hurts sponsor? Doubt it. Shoe sponsors like to sponsor top programs makes the product more visible. Addidas won’t go anywhere not with the Carlson, Garcia and Dobbs crew coming up this will be a top team. Imo

If Memphis is really a legit top school for Matt, something fishy is up. If he goes there, he's getting a bag, playing a semester and going to the NBA. No reason for him to go there unless he's getting paid.

Memphis looks like the favorite to land Number 1 overall recruit James Wiseman from Memphis and is in the mix for several other top recruits. Over the years it’s been pretty common that top prospects might team up in college. Hurt also has a strong relationship with Memphis assistant Mike Miller and their is a lot of NBA experience on that staff with Penny Hardaway & Sam Mitchell as well. I obviously hope he chooses the Gophers but there are some legitimate reasons that he could pick the Tigers that don’t involve money.
