All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

Wolves, Lynx and Vikes too. Wild didn't make the cut. I got tired of trying to think of a deep pull on Vikes/Jets and typed in Brett just to get it done, but I hit the second name instead of the first one with my fat finger. Brett Favre would have given me a full grid. Stupid Brett Keisel did not work. (Not the first time this has happened to me).
For the Vikings I went with a SAM's Club.

Eagles - Sam Bradford / 13%
Jets - Sam Darnold / 19%
1 Team - Sammy White / 0.2%

I feel your pain on the slip of the finger or the last millisecond rearranging of names that thwarts my board.

I'm not sure why he's stuck in my head as a Vikings/Jets alum, but Todd Scott works. He may not have been an all time great, but he gave us an all-time great memory in housing an interception against Jim Harbaugh and the Bears on MNF back in '92.

Twins Alert on the Grid with a Coolhand 2fer special paired with the Rangers.

Nats / Matt Capps - 2%
Rangers / Danny Thompson - 0.6%
HoF /Big Ed Delehanty - 0.3%

I was shooting for overall single digit Rarity but Mickey Rivers (4%) for Tanks/Rangers pushed me to 11%.
Check it out again, my overall number went from double digits to single digits overnight.

And you are correct, I was salivating when the categories came up today. It was such a bonanza that I was able to use former Twins for the Yankees category too.

Nats/Expos: Chris Speier (.3%)
Rangers: Mike Bacsik (.05%) his biggest contribution as a Twin was his beautiful 1980 Topps card, a great action shot in the Twins' baby blue uniforms
HOF: Goose Goslin (1%)

For the Yankees (and former Twins)
Nats/Expos: Graig Nettles (.6%)
Rangers: Ruben Sierra (3%)

My Rarity went down, but not quite enough. Went from 11 to 10.

Padres-Buck Buchanan (.3%)
Cards-Tom Nieto (.4%)
Marlins-Mike Redmond (2%)

I slid Gaetti into Cards/300 homers for .8%

Unfortunately, Reds/Marlins kept me from a perfect grid. April’s been a rough month for me.

I used Dontrelle Willis there. That's purely from previous Grid experience, not any actual recollection of him suiting up in Cincinnati.

Archer saved me. Otherwise, it would have lights out. And after a lot of thought, Delmon Young was the only player I could think of for the Phils/Rays square.

Thank goodness for marginal Twins!
It took me over 15 minutes to recall Chris Archer for today's Pirates/Rays square.

Whew. Day 2 only.

Sergio Romo (Giants) and Crime Dog McGriff (.300 BA Season) worked for the rest of the Rays categories.

Twins Alert on todays Grid:

Braves - Bartolo Colon / 8%
Brewers - Matt Garza / 1%
6WAR - Johan Santana / 10%

Looking at the WAR category, the 2 biggest surprises (not including the Senators) for me are Jerry Koosman & Joe Mays.

I went with...
Braves: Joe Niekro (4%)
Brewers: Caleb Boushley (.008%-my favorite UW-Lacrosse alum on the board, narrowly edging out Jerry Augustine)
6+ WAR: Bob Allison (.7%)

I'm going to have to take a look at that WAR in detail, shocked that Mays had a 6+ WAR season. WAR is such a fascinating concept to me--my most glaring example that of Dante Bichette with his nearly 2000 hits, 275 HR's, .299 batting average and his lifetime WAR sits at 5.6. In 1995, he lead the NL in hits, HR's, and RBI's and had a WAR of 1.2. Really brings into light the stadium effect/defensive liability factors, but still was mind blowing to me when I ran across the details.

I could have just as easily added Corey Koskie as being surprised that he's on the 6WAR list but former AL MVP Justin Morneau is absent.
