Issac Fruechte news. Looks like he will get a shot with the Vikings in 2016:

http://www.1500espn.com/vikings-2/2...aac-fruechte-six-others-to-reserve-contracts/

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Vikings committed to seven players for next season.

Receiver Isaac Fruechte and six others inked reserve/future contracts on Monday morning, the team announced. Fruechte, a University of Minnesota product, spent the entire 2015 season on the Vikings’ practice squad after going undrafted last spring. All seven players were on the practice squad when their season ended with Sunday’s 10-9 playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Also signed were guard Isame Faciane, linebacker Terrance Plummer, fullback Blake Renaud, linebacker Alex Singleton, defensive tackle Toby Johnson and safety John Lowdermilk.

Players that sign reserve/future contracts are added to their team’s active roster on the first day of the new league year, which falls on March 15 for the 2016 season. Only players who were not on any team’s active roster at the end of the season are eligible for a reserve/future contract.

Offensive lineman David Yankey, a 2014 fifth-round pick, was one of three practice squad players not immediately signed to a reserve/future deal, along with tight end Dominique Jones and running back Dominique Williams.

It sounded for awhile like he was going to be going somewhere else. Glad to see him able to stay in MN.

Sherels is one of the ultimate underdogs in pro sports. Glad to see he will be a Viking for the foreseeable future.

Sherels is not a great CB, but he is a very good Punt returner. Make no mistake - there is very little sentiment in the NFL. Sherels may be the nicest guy in the world - but the Vikings are bringing him back because they feel he can help the team (at a reasonable salary). The minute they think Sherels can't help them, he's gone. (and hopefully back to the U as a coach to join his brother.....)

You are correct and I'm not naive to think that the Vikings are doing this just to be nice. I can't think of another story of an athlete going from unheralded walk-on and undrafted free agent to carving a niche on a pro sports team like Marcus Sherels. Even very casual fans would gravitate to his story.

Amen. What he accomplished at the U was very impressive. What he has done since is even more so.

Great news on Sherels. I'm happy be will be back in purple. Probably my favorite Viking.
