Stanford may or may not be a "better program" than ours, but I have little doubt that if education is a significant part of his decision, we end up way behind Stanford. I visited a former student in grad school there the summer before Reid Travis committed and left thinking it would be really tough for him to turn down an opportunity like that. Hard for anyone who sees education as primary and sports as secondary.

No not from that way RJ just reported that was the case. Sounds like he isn't close to making a decision on a sport for college yet.

Class of 2022 is loaded and attracting Gophers attention and others this summer


Former Gophers center Jonathan Williams coaches the D1 Minnesota’s 16s team with three 2022 prospects on the Gophers’ radar. Hopkins forward Elvis Nnaji, the cousin of former Arizona standout Zeke Nnaji, has an offer from the Gophers. Enderlin (N.D.) center Joe Hurlburt has offers from Colorado and Iowa. East Ridge guard Kendall Blue nabbed a Marquette offer this summer.

“It definitely feels good to get back on the court with my teammates after waiting this whole summer,” Nnaji said. “I’ve been working with my cousin and uncle as well. Being able to let all the skills I’ve learned for the past couple months out on the court will be good.”

I'm pretty sure Built wasn't referring to you but rather the BADgers as being "Racist. Identification of people by the pigmentation of their skin. Constant." I mean, they named their city after a slave owner. Haven't head a peep about anyone in Madison wanting to change it. They can always photoshop in diversity when they want.

I meant to post about this more than a week about but have been busy and just forgot. Ryan James put out an episode of "Talk Gopher Buckets" and talked quite a bit about the 2022 class and how fantastic he thinks it is locally. He stressed how importan Holloman is as a recruit to Minnesota and made comparisons to the Jones kids especially in being a winner and the fact that the other guys love to play with him. He didn't say it directly but the implication was if you get Holloman you get other local kids. Another PG they have offered that is interested is Lipsey from Ames, Iowa. He's playing with D1 Minnesota ( I think) and sounds like he's played well too. I wasn't really clear if Eli King is considered a PG by Ryan or not but, like many others, Ryan guesses he'll likely choose basketball and he's been impressive as well. On the wing, Heide has been injured but he and another kid I can't remember are options there. Perhaps most interestingly was the discussion on Hurlburt from North Dakota who Ryan thinks will be a top 40 prospect at some point in his recruitment and have offers from everywhere. Supposedly he loves Minnesota and the Twin Cities and his brother had a great time here as a student. Reading between the lines the implication was getting an early commitment before he completely blows up would be ideal. He also mentioned Ahjany Lee and someone else as guys who have a lot of potential and could become high major guys. Take it with a grain of salt, but Ryan's big takeaway was there were multiple good options at every level (guard/wing/big) for the Gophers just between Minnesota/North Dakota/Iowa in 2022.

I also found interesting Ryan's experience travelling to watch these teams play in the era of COVID-19. I don't want to derail this thread with talk about that, but you'll hear it later in the episode if you listen.
 

Had been really impressed with Prince Aligbe from what I had seen of him, but haven't heard as much mentioned about him lately. Went to check 247, and saw that his rating had dropped pretty substantially a few days ago - anyone know a particular reason for that?

Hurlburt is already a top 50 prospect by 247's rankings, which really surprised me when i looked. Would be huge to lock him up early and keep solid bigs coming in.

Sounds like he's waiting on a Nova offer. Prince is a kid who falls I think because he plays with so much talent. He's a good player for whomever gets him.

Absolutely loaded class instate and out. Recruiting focus can certainly be regional here. Sounds like if we get Tre, then many more will come. Hulbert also interviewed with Doogie a couple weeks ago and he spoke highly of the U there even if Doogie's questioning was trying to come off negative. He really tried to push how positive Wisconsin is and he wasn't biting as hard on that imo.
