per Bossi:

IN HIS OWN WORDS
Garcia broke down his Fall visits and discussed home state Minnesota who he hopes to set up an official visit with soon.

Baylor: “It’s a super beautiful campus with great people. I love their basketball program too. They were great to me while I was there and it was fun to watch their practices. I also got to do some work with some of the players just shooting around a bit. I like their gym too. It’s a nice setiup and it looks like it can get pretty crazy in there.”

Texas: “Austin was great. It was my first official visit ever and my first experience with that. It was awesome. I got there the first day and we were kind of chilling but the next day there were a lot of activities. I saw around the whole area and the whole campus. I talked to everyone from the academic advisors to the chefs and the managers. They were all great people down the line. Me and coach (Shaka) Smart have a great relationship and he was the first one to offer me a scholarship so that means a lot to me.”

Marquette: "That was a grweat visit as well. I went before the two officials and it was good. We did a lot of talking to the academic advisor, walked around the place and I saw the new arena which was super sweet. It’s all basketball, all the focus.”

Minnesota: “I’ve been talking to coach (Kyle) Lindsted a lot, he’s a really great guy and I’ve built a great relationship with him and with coach (Richard) Pitino as well. I really like them a lot and I’m excited to continue building my relationship with them.”

RIVALS' REACTION
Garcia is the perfect stretch four man for the college game. He’s a fluid athlete who moves well around the perimeter and he can soften defenses with his jump shooting. Though he’s still on the slender side, he’s done a nice job of adding bulk without losing flexibility and he’s a very sure handed rebounder.

The early offer from Texas seems to have made a pretty strong impact on Garcia and his relationship with Minnesota appears pretty strong as well. It’s likely a little too early to declare a leader or group of leaders and while Garcia says that he’ll take his time, he didn’t totally rule out the possibility of making an early decision.

“I’m going to be taking my time with it," said Garcia. "But you never know because if something happens and it feels like that’s where I’m supposed to be and that’s God’s plan for me I’m going to take that opportunity.”

I don't get the love for Shaka Smart. Random Final Four aside, it seems like his teams underachieve. If we had lured him out of the Vu that fateful evening I'm not convinced we'd be any better off than we are now.

Surprised there hasn't been more chatter on this kid.

Put up 40 and 15 against Shakopee last night and completely dominated Ben Carlson when they played a few weeks ago.

He's clearly the second best player in that class and I think is a lot closer to Suggs than people give him credit for. Heck of a player.

Gonna be a top 50 kid for sure, if not a top 25. Kid is a stud!

Strange recruiting news because Xavier thinks they have him.

There is some history there with D1 and the Xavier staff with JP going there. I still don't know why or what is going on, but the only D1 kid to go to the U was Michael Hurt. Still think there is something there that is brought up enough. Also worries me with Dawson since that's who he plays for.

This is the guy we need. Plays like Coffey only longer and with a better outside shot. Suggs running point and the Park Center in the post would complete my dream hat trick for 2020.

Like Coffey? Garcia is a legit post player and grabs 12 boards a game. Kendall Brown is the in-state guy who reminds me of Coffey.

Andrew Miller: Texas Basketball Recruiting: Xavier, Marquette trailing for Dawson Garcia after losses?

As his recruitment is really starting to heat up of late, Garcia had a handful of recent visits in the past few months and a growing offer sheet. He does hold 10 offers highlighted by the Texas Longhorns basketball program, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Wisconsin Badgers, Marquette, and Xavier.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions favors Marquette over the rest of the competition to land the commitment from Garcia. But, the Crystal Ball Predictions do give Marquette a 50 percent chance to land his pledge and the other 50 percent falls to “undecided”.

There is still a ton of room and time for head Texas basketball coach Shaka Smart to make an impact on Garcia’s commitment decision in a big way. Garcia was on the Forty Acres back on Oct. 13 for an official visit. Since then, he’s taken visits with the Kentucky Wildcats, Iowa Hawkeyes, Baylor Bears, and Marquette.

Even though he did have a coach visit with Kentucky, he hasn’t yet received an offer. Considering how this rising 6-foot-11 2020 Prior Lake High School center could start to make his way into elite status, getting an offer from a blue blood like Kentucky wouldn’t be too surprising. Either way, the Horns could still make some more headway with the current momentum on the hardwood in the NIT over the likes of Xavier and Marquette.

I'm sure an NIT run would really swing things in the longhorn's favor...

I've watched Dawson play a dozen times, I'm sometimes in awe and sometimes meh when I watch him. He needs to work on his post game, bad. He is a very good 3-point shooter for his size.
