East Ridge senior quarterback and Gophers basketball recruit Cedric Tomes will miss Friday’s football game against Hopkins and be sidelined up to eight weeks with a broken finger.
Currently in a cast, Tomes is expected to have surgery Thursday on his left index finger and non-shooting hand.
The 6-1 dual-threat signal caller suffered the fracture four plays into last Thursday’s
41-0 opening loss at Minnetonka.
“It’s not too long of a recovery, so I’m excited to get that going,” Tomes told Strib Varsity. “I was taking an outside zone and running the ball. A helmet hit my finger. I got up and didn’t really feel the pain at first, but I looked down and my finger was sideways.”
As quarterback for East Ridge, Tomes suffered the fracture four plays into last Thursday’s 41-0 opening loss at Minnetonka.
