I have no idea if Niko is recruiting Kyle Evans or not, but I looked in to him when he entered the portal. He played two years for Niko, but played very sparingly in both seasons. Assuming he's someone Niko wants, I would wonder how Evans would feel going back to a coach that hardly played him for his final year of college ball ? Not saying it would be the case, but many players don't look back fondly on coaches that didn't play them. As far as on the court, it's so hard to tell with players coming from 1 bid low major leagues. The facts that he both blocks a lot of shots and shot nearly 80% from the line are encouraging. However, he's really thin and only shot 2.8 free throws a game at that low major level where he should have quite an advantage inside. He'd certainly be another veteran piece that knows the offense, whether he has the talent to make an impact at the Big Ten level would the question.
Since they Kyan Evans stuff from the Gopher 247 site is on here, I will note that the Tar Heel 247 site said a week or two ago that Evans camp was backchanneling with other schools during the season. I take it as a good sign that Niko wants Kyan and that my concerns about him are unwarranted. Certainly seems very likely that a commitment will come on the visit.
