All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

After nixing the Crosby deal, BAL signed Trey Hendrickson to a 4/$112M deal this morning. It also sounds like the Cowboys no longer have interest in Crosby.
Greenard to Philly or Dallas, let’s get us a good old fashioned bidding war.

If ARI doesn't release Murray by tomorrow, they owe him another $14M guaranteed roster bonus. No team is trading a pick for this guy and absorb even a part of his current deal when they can get him at the veteran's minimum upon his official release.
He should be officially released today, as today is the official start of the 2026 NFL Season, officially posting 😎.

I think they technically have until the 5th day of the league year to release him. They seem bitter so they might wait.

This is correct. It would be petty to do so but I don't know if it will affect much either way.

According to Schefter when the original trade went down, the Cowboys had offered Vegas a 1st and 2nd for Crosby. It will be interesting to see if their offer remains the same.

Personally, I think the CIN owner got involved and mixed the deal. I think the Bengals would be wise to trade us Burrow to get a head start on their total rebuild. 🙂

Looks like the folks at the NFL Network got the memo this morning, loud and clear; Your JOB here is to protect the shield, first and foremost.

After more than one of them absolutely hammered the Ravens last night initially (Pelissero was the most vocal I heard) about pulling the rug out from under the Raiders in the trade, the tone this morning has been Significantly toned down. All good, it wasn't THAT big of a deal, despite the fact that a number of them last night were saying this kind of thing absolutely never, ever has happened at this level

The Minnesota Vikings and Aaron Jones have agreed to a revised contract to keep the running back with the team for the 2026 season, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Jones will lower his base salary from $9 million to $5.5 million as part of the reworked deal, Pelissero adds. Minnesota was reportedly planning to release the veteran at the start of the new league

Aaron Jones back to the Vikings for $5.5 million. I guess for that price, you can't pass it up. Even if he's hurt half the time.
The funniest thing prior to the SB was the chatter in The Athletic that Walker would be a good fi here and should only command 3/$23M - wasn’t Lewis but a league wide expert.

They love him in the locker room also; maybe we can find an UDFA to bring in as his replacement.

Hitman update -

The Vikings will process S Harrison Smithas a post-June 1 release this afternoon, per source.

This is procedural. Harrison's decision for 2026 remains up in the air. The team would welcome his return. This allows him more time. All sides have been in contact & in agreement.

I bet he comes back for one more year🤠

Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will visit the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

It was reported that the Vikings were expected to pursue Murray, who officially became a free agent Wednesday after being released following seven seasons in Arizona.

The belief across the NFL is that the 2019 No. 1 pick will likely end up with the Vikings, Schefter adds.

I am looking forward to the local mn media pumping th vikes all off season. I get that kfan is always pumping tires for the vikes but this time last year skor north was Super Bowl baybeeeee. It was awful and I expect the same banter.

Once Murray is officially inked, you need to put your money where your mouth is son and will have a ban bet based on the 2026 tilts 🤠; there’s only so much of your lip flapping a relatively sane man can handle🥸

More good news for the Vikings cap situation.

As far as the question earlier about why are they clearing cap. Part of the reason could be to give Greenard some of the raise that he's looking for. I don't know, but it's possible.

All blather and argle bargle. I hope Kyler succeeds but I am now wise to local media.

1 year deal for Murray with Arizona paying the majority of the dollars.

It would appear by that move McCarthy will still be the starter and Murray is an insurance policy in case JJ proves to be a bust.

No. Murray will start. He wouldn't have signed if they didn't promise him that.

The Purple Daily crew is apoplectic about this signing.

They’ll “compete” in camp and Murray will start if healthy
I doubt they will even pretend it's a competition.
He had leverage with Pittsburgh in the picture and he likely used it - the no tag is sexy.

@scools12
High level athletes wanna compete and win. His career earnings are already $170M - he ain’t eating Hamburger Helper, like us 😎

Nah, he’s making 39 million whether he starts or not. No need to make that promise.
It's not about $$. He could likely gave gone to Pittsburgh and started. If he wanted to be back-up he'd have gone to the Rams.
