All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Other than Center, which supposedly Brandel and Jurgens are both going to get a look ... what else?

And obviously assuming Murray is coming here.
Big assumption

The bigger ones (given a bunch of stuff will depend on how they want to approach it with the in house guys) in no particular order
RB
LB
Safety
DT

They also need to decide what they’re doing at te, wr3, and at de. Then there’s still worry about line depth and what happens health wise at OT

I don’t love the roster structure and banking on unsung guys just exploding (like rolling with what we’ve got at DT)

Considering the resources available, would it be terrible for the Vikings to move forward this year with this OL:

Darrisaw-Jackson-Brandel-Fries-O'Neill; with Jurgens as a backup C, Rouse as backup OT. In this scenario you absolutely have to draft an OL player, likely on Day 2 of the draft. Just throwing it out there, I think if this group stayed healthy, that's a fairly decent OL

Lewis had some sick stats how well Jay Ward performed with increased snaps at the end of the season; burgeoning star to my eyes.

Redmond has already shown last season he can be the starter/main guy for one of the tackle spots.

They should be able to resign Wilson, as he’s 32 and the his market shouldn’t be outrageous.

Lastly, every team has 🕳️.

I think their depth at DL is actually pretty good, I just don't know if they have real rockstars. Redmond is legit, Levi Drake-Rodriguez played a lot of meaningful snaps, they like Taki Taimani, Ingram-Dawkins is a developing player, and from what I recall, they REALLY liked Elijah Williams before he got hurt and missed most (all?) of the season.

Would love to see an impact player on the interior DL though.

I agree 1000%.

As we saw last season, Flo figured it out and all the guys you mentioned can take a step forward this season as well. Maybe we’ll get a good vet at a reasonable price also.

Yep this was more my point on listing dt. Have some pieces, but do you have guys who can be the centerpiece anchoring the interior defense? It would be awesome if Redmond could, but that’s a lot to put on him

On the dl, Javon Hargrave taking swipes at B Flo on the way out like a child.

This seems overly pessimistic to me.

By construction, the league wants to prevent any team from having All-Pros at every position. So every team has at least a handful of positions where the starter(s) are not ideal.

RB for example ... we have Mason. LB, Cashman and Eric Wilson were great last year (the former when healthy of course).

Why do you think Murray won't come here, at this point? Seems like an obvious benefit for both sides, being able to sign him so cheaply.

As long as the cap keeps expanding, which comes from the TV money continuing to grow ... then "kicking the can down the road" on cap hits by doing restructures, extensions, etc. is exactly the correct call.

Obviously we have to hit better on the draft. Grandmothers know this. KAM being out will help with that, I hope.

I’m too lazy to look up his contract, but I’m assuming he’s too spendy to cut. He was but a shell of himself last year. It seems his injury really took a lot out of him.
Cousins was not the same in 2024, just about any Falcons fan can tell you that. Then suddenly at the end of last year he was helping them win games.

Some of these major joint injuries, a little bit olded ... I wonder if it takes two years to really be back.

Per a note in Heavy the Vikes may have received interest from the Eagles regarding Greenard -

According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, that could change soon, as the Philadelphia Eagles are believed to be eyeing Greenardin the event they are unsuccessful in their quest to re-sign Jaelan Phillips.

“The Eagles are believed to have inquired about Minnesota’s Jonathan Greenard,” Fowler reported. “The Vikings have received many inquiries on Greenard, who will be far cheaper to acquire than Crosby. A Day 2 pick probably gets a deal done. But complicating matters is Greenard’s contract. Teams say he wants a new deal. His current contract is set to pay him $38 million over the next two years.”

MIA to release Tua and eat his NFL record $99M dead money Cap hit. Rumors are they will join the chase for Malik Willis who is expected to get an offer around 2/$60M in free agency.

The NYG signed Isaiah Likely to a 3-year deal which should provide a nice security blanket for Dart. That has to make NYC happy.

RAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIDERRRRRRRRRSSS!

He's not a #1 WR, but the Raiders don't have much of anything right now outside of a great TE room
