All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Per a note in Heavy the Vikes may have received interest from the Eagles regarding Greenard -

According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, that could change soon, as the Philadelphia Eagles are believed to be eyeing Greenardin the event they are unsuccessful in their quest to re-sign Jaelan Phillips.

“The Eagles are believed to have inquired about Minnesota’s Jonathan Greenard,” Fowler reported. “The Vikings have received many inquiries on Greenard, who will be far cheaper to acquire than Crosby. A Day 2 pick probably gets a deal done. But complicating matters is Greenard’s contract. Teams say he wants a new deal. His current contract is set to pay him $38 million over the next two years.”
Philips signed with Carolina, so come on Philly cough ups first rounder for Greenard😎

Pace update, per Schefter -

Vikings are using the low tender on restricted free agent LB Ivan Pace.”

This gives the Vikings the right of refusal to match an offer sheet for the LB. Tyler Forness laid out what it means if no one comes to Pace with an offer.

Unless someone signs him to an offer sheet, Ivan Pace Jr. will cost $3.52 million on the salary cap.”

For now, Pace Jr. remains a Minnesota Viking. The Vikings hold the leverage in his negotiations. If Pace Jr. is to remain with Minnesota on top of Wilson’s extension, the Vikings could look to take the linebacker position off their list of draft needs in April.

PA just said the vikes should be Super Bowl contenders in 2026. Yes!

Interesting to see what happening with Edge market.

Mayfe signs $60M for three years.
Hendrickson who was listed as the #1overall FA and projected at $99M for 3 - still waiting.

The Eagles gotta replace Philips, so do they wait Hendrickson out for a price drop or trade for Greenard?

Maybe Greenard gets traded at the draft instead?

The edge class is really good this year. Id be in on selling Greenard high if they can

Holy shit. I got that text from the Raiders a little while ago and I was thinking their text account had been hacked

The Ravens are using the medical excuse to back out, but part of me wonders if they just got cold feet or second thoughts and used the medical as their OUT.

Apparently the Cowboys, who were the team that was in it to the end, are still interested

Naturally

Tom P on the Rich Eisen show says that JJ Mcarthy is ready be the starter on day 1 of the season. Fool me once…

Yeah Ravens saying he failed his physical

Well, yes and no. Nobody really "fails" a physical. The acquiring team just has to make a decision if they want to assume whatever risk is involved with whatever they find in the physical.

This smells of bullshit. Everyone in the world knew about the meniscus repair, which is not a serious deal at all. I call bullshit on the Ravens, getting cold feet and just deciding to back out for whatever reason.

According to Schefter when the original trade went down, the Cowboys had offered Vegas a 1st and 2nd for Crosby. It will be interesting to see if their offer remains the same.

Personally, I think the CIN owner got involved and mixed the deal. I think the Bengals would be wise to trade us Burrow to get a head start on their total rebuild. 🙂

Goodell told Ravens to nix it. The league still hates the Raiders, no doubt about that. Okay, that's a little conspiratorial but stranger things have happened. I think the Ravens backed out for their own reasons that had nothing to do with the medical. I'm sure losing Linderbaum to the Raiders didn't help their mindset.

To me, any trade has to include a 1st in next year's draft, even if it means taking a high 2nd this year. Next year's draft, not even just QBs, is supposed to just be incredibly deep. A 1st rounder in 2027 has to be included. Shit, I'd take a 2nd and a 3rd this year and a 1st in 2027 if you had to

The Raiders could definitely look at it this way, which would be correct;

Crosby is infinitely more than just an elite player. He's the face of a franchise kind of guy. Works harder than anyone on the team, leader in the locker room, never takes a play off. Derek Carr later last week on his pod said you just don't trade Crosby if you're the Raiders. He's obviously tight with Crosby and has that link, but the way he described it, it sure made a lot of sense.

Any chance Arizona can do some shenanigans now that Smith is not an option for the Vikings? Say they're going to hold onto him and try to force us to trade? Or would doing that make them eat more money somehow?

Dan brought up an interesting point from some Twitter user on yesterday's show, at least about how the optics absolutely would look (even if it isn't exactly the truth):

- if the Vikings bring in Murray, it means they don't believe McCarthy is salvagable
- if the Vikings bring in Cousins or Rodgers, it would be a guaranteed one year thing, mentor for McCarthy, and still a chance McCarthy is the guy in 27.

True or not, that will be the optics of it.

Fully granted that Murray could still come here and get hurt or implode, leaving the door open in 26.

Cool stat on how effective and productive Wilson was last season via Lewis -

Wilson, 31, was ranked No. 73 on The Athletic’s list of the top 150 free agents of 2026. Last season, he became a key cog in one of the NFL’s best defenses. He is the only linebacker to record more than 40 pressures and more than 20 run stuffs in the same season since 2020, according to Next Gen Stats.

Regarding the bolded, I don't think that's true at all.

Murray is an attractive option because Arizona is on the hook for the bulk of his salary for 2026 only. Any team that signs him would give him a one year deal at the league minimum, with AZ paying him the rest of his guaranteed money.

After 2026, Murray will be a free agent.

There's no long term commitment for a team that takes a flyer on him.

If ARI doesn't release Murray by tomorrow, they owe him another $14M guaranteed roster bonus. No team is trading a pick for this guy and absorb even a part of his current deal when they can get him at the veteran's minimum upon his official release.

After nixing the Crosby deal, BAL signed Trey Hendrickson to a 4/$112M deal this morning. It also sounds like the Cowboys no longer have interest in Crosby.
