All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Higher Day 2 pick makes sense

yeah big question is do they think Turner's production increased, plateaus or drops off playing a heavier role. would suck to take what is probably one of the strengths of the defense and turn it into an unknown

These trade proposals floating around X about the Bears landing Maxx Crosby are just laughable.

Every one of them involves the Raiders taking DJ Moore from the Bears, and every one of them must be coming from entirely from Bears fans.

DJ Moore has a horrible contract with the Bears and the Bears want to dump him. Nobody, like NOBODY, should help out the Bears by bailing them out of that contract. Make the Bears cut Moore and sign him if you want. Moore is barely a viable #2 WR...

If I'm the Raiders, there's no trade for Crosby that doesn't involve the Bears 2027 1st rounder; next year's draft is not only light years better than this year's, but that Bears pick ain't going to be in the mid-20's next spring. It'll be back in the mid-teens, at best

This makes a lot more sense and as usual Schaefer has it about half right - he’d be the perfect weatherman🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

None of us said they weren’t over the 🧢 - a dumbo like me even realized that $40M is too much, we simply said it was fixable and not Armageddon🤦‍♂.

I also think it’s a vote of confidence for Dallas and thdt he’s ready to be the full time starter and if he plays like he did last year, he’ll be at a Pro Bowl/All Pro level: younger and cheaper and not being a D about his contract when he only played in 12 games and tallied 3 sacks - don’t let the door hit your backside on the way out

So Murray release feels like he would probably push to come here on like a 1 year?

Ideally, you'd like to sign him for two years, so if he's good you don't have another Darnold situation. But there's almost no incentive for Murray to do that.
Yep that’s why I said one and the financial win likely worth it to mn to keep his salary low

They can sign him for a league minimum which is 1.3M and IIRC the Cards pick up the rest if his guaranteed salary this season.

I had heard this was possible, even if they also release Hargrave.

Talk about two opposite ends of the spectrum; the Vikings swung for the fences in FA last year at this time and couldn't have had much worse luck. The Patriots swung for the fences and had what most called historically unlikely success with their FA signings, and made the SB.

There’s been lots of chatter about Redmond is ready to go to the next level and that LDR is also the real deal.

With us releasing both Allen and Hargrave, that makes DT Peter Woods from Clemson look quite enticing at #18 if he falls to us.

Thanks for posting.

I can definitely see the Jets overpaying, but if he wants to revamp his career, don’t just grab a bag from the Jets, go to MN and go the Darnold route.
Maybe this has already been covered, but how does the whole Murrary contract situation work? With the Cards covering the majority of his salary, anything Murray makes in 2026 up to the number he's already owed by the Cards just comes out of what they owe him, correct? As in, he can't get that from the Cards, and then sign a $30MM deal and "double dib" on salary if I understand it correctly. Thus, the only way to overpay for him is to offer a multi-year deal.

I was initially against signing Murray. But if he can be had at the vet minimum for one year, and you have to promise him the job, I think I'd take that. Honestly, I'm good with rolling with JJM, finding some halfway decent backup and going that route. If JJM sucks in 2026, then you pull the plug and find a legit long-time QB. The never ending band-aid approach as a Vikings fan has gotten so old. But with JJM still under contact, you can give it to Murray for a year, and see if JJM has finally done all the things he needs to do to be a viable QB in 2027.

Rumors are that in addition to cap issues, the Wilf's aren't wanting to spend as much cash this year. I guess they're "rightsizing the business". Wilfs!

He has no incentive to sign for anything other than a 1 year deal at the vet minimum. Because of that, the Jets being the odds on favorite is dumb. If he has a choice between Minnesota, Pittsburgh and the Jets, the Jets are deep in 3rd. Plus he's only started 3 games in his career when the temperature was below 30 degrees.

Cheap Wilfs.

NYC is my account baby.

The Jets could possibly offer him a tantalizing multi-year deal because They Might Be Giants have taken huge strides forward with young talent they have drafted on offense: Fart, Skatabo bo and Jim Neighbors. They deftly then pried some guy named Greg Harbaugh away from PJ - they’re the talk of Gotham, per my source the Dark Night.

The Juts big move was Not to fire Aaron Glynn and overpay and azz kiss Mr. Rodgers.

They need a splash, so offering Murray a crazy azz contract cannot be ruled out, as I live in a city where a guy had both an alligator and a lion as roommates - fully grown and this was only noticed because of the odious piss down the walls and not the roars of the 🦁 and whatever the heck you call the noises 🐊 make.

You’re far 2 rational for my 🍎 à la mode🥸

That could happen. But Kyler/his agent should know going to the Jets is career suicide.

Yes, you are correct and I thought I stated that previously as well (might be in the snaps thread I started); for all the tea in Cheena could not get me to play for that ✈️ dumpster 🔥

Collusion 🤷‍♂️

I wouldn't rule out Atlanta for Kyler Murray. Someone like Murray isn't afraid of having to beat out Penix, not even a question. He's probably less worried about beating out Penix than he is of JJ McCarthy. At least McCarthy was selected by the coaching staff in MSP; Penix was picked by the departed dumpster fire Front Office.

I'm not betting on Atlanta, but if I had the odds in front of me, I'd take a flyer on Atlanta for a few bucks.

All the rumors/reports that I've read indicate the new leadership in ATL are not sold on Penix for this season or long-term.

It's been reported that the NYJ want to trade up to #1 to draft Mendoza. If Vegas got a huge haul from the Jets, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Raiders joined the chase for Murray, too.

I like your ATL take, though...they have a ton of weapons and a terrific running game to support Murray.

All the way up until just a week ago or so, I would have been all-in, 100% on letting the #1 overall pick go for an absolute haul. Too many holes on the Raiders roster, they need a few years. They need as many pieces as possible

But I've kinda warmed up to the Mendoza pick, especially hearing how fantastic the marriage with his skill set and the Kubiak offense could be.

I'd be fine either way, from a Raiders perspective. It's good theater if nothing else. I'm definitely leaning towards wanting them to move Maxx; I just don't want it to be to the Bears.

They spent the 2nd most cash in the NFL last season and it bought them 9-8.

Currently they still sit at 8th in the league for cash spent for 2026.
